A cleansing balm works differently than a liquid oil cleanser — it's solid at room temperature and melts into skin on contact, forming a rich cleansing layer that lifts makeup, sunscreen, and daily buildup without water. FATCO's is built on grass-fed tallow, a fat whose main fatty acids are among the same ones found in human sebum, which is why it suits most skin types.

Removes makeup completely

The balm texture clings to and dissolves even waterproof makeup without tugging.

Nourishes while it cleanses

Tallow and shea butter leave skin comfortable rather than stripped.

The tallow cleanser

This is FATCO's tallow-based cleanser. The liquid Cleansing Oils are plant-only.

Key Ingredients

Grass-Fed Tallow

Roughly 37% oleic acid, 27% palmitic and 17% stearic — fatty acids that also appear in the skin's own barrier.

Shea Butter

A rich, softening butter that leaves skin comfortable after cleansing rather than tight.

Castor Oil

The deep-cleansing element. Dissolves the oil-soluble grime that water alone leaves behind.

Full Ingredients: Coconut Oil*, Tallow from Grass-Fed Cows, Shea Butter*, Jojoba Oil, Olive Oil*, Walnut Oil, Castor Oil*, Beeswax, Lavender Essential Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil. *Organic. Contains beef tallow and beeswax, so this product is not vegan.

How to Use

Start with a dry face. Scoop a dime-sized amount and rub between your fingers to melt it, then massage over your entire face in circular motions. Dampen a washcloth with warm water, press it gently over your face for 30–60 seconds, then wipe clean. No additional cleanser needed.

the oil cleansing method how to oil cleanse

Start with a dry face. Remove a dime-sized dollop of product and rub all over your face in a circular motion. Dampen a washcloth with very warm water and wring out any excess water. Gently press warm washcloth over face for one minute, allowing pores to open and balm to penetrate the skin. Wipe entire face with washcloth to clean away all dirt, makeup and remaining oil.

A cleansing balm is solid at room temperature and melts into skin on contact, which makes it especially good at dissolving heavy makeup, sunscreen and long-wear products. A cleansing oil is already liquid. Both work on the same principle — like dissolves like — but the balm texture clings to makeup-heavy skin before rinsing. Note that the Cleansing Balm contains tallow and the Cleansing Oils do not.
Grass-fed tallow is roughly 37% oleic acid, 27% palmitic and 17% stearic — the same fatty acids that structure your own skin barrier, with oleic acid also dominant in sebum. That overlap is why it absorbs readily rather than sitting on the surface. We rest the case on the fatty acids rather than a vitamin list, since USDA data shows only modest vitamin E and D in tallow, with A and K not detected.
You can, with a patch test first. There is no published comedogenic rating for beef tallow — the scale widely quoted online tested isolated ingredients on rabbit ears and did not include tallow. What is worth knowing is that this formula contains coconut oil, which some people find congesting. If that is you, FATCO's Cleansing Oils do not contain coconut oil.
Yes — this is where balms outperform most cleansers. The solid-to-oil texture forms a rich layer that bonds with and dissolves waterproof mascara, foundation and sunscreen. The warm washcloth step lifts everything away.
Start with a dry face. Scoop a dime-sized amount and warm it between your fingers until it melts, then massage over your face for 60 to 90 seconds. Press a warm, damp washcloth over your face for 30 to 60 seconds, then wipe clean. No second cleanser needed.
Most cleansing balms are built on coconut oil or synthetic emollients. FATCO's is anchored in grass-fed beef tallow, whose fatty acid profile closely mirrors human sebum. It is made in the USA with organic ingredients and contains no synthetic preservatives, fragrances or detergents.
