Embarking on a journey towards radiant and healthy skin involves more than just a meticulous skincare routine. The saying "you are what you eat" holds true when it comes to achieving a luminous complexion. In this blog post, we'll explore five superfoods that can work wonders for your skin from the inside out. Let's dive into the world of nutrient-rich foods that can help you nourish your way to a vibrant and glowing complexion.
Berries: Antioxidant Powerhouses
Berries, including blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries, are bursting with antioxidants. These compounds help combat oxidative stress caused by free radicals, preventing premature aging and promoting a youthful appearance. The high vitamin C content in berries also supports collagen production, contributing to skin elasticity and firmness.
Salmon: Omega-3 Fatty Acids for Skin Health
Fatty fish like salmon are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, essential for maintaining healthy skin. These fats help to keep the skin hydrated, reduce inflammation, and support the skin barrier function. The result is smoother, more supple skin. Salmon is also a great source of astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant that improves skin elasticity and protects against UV damage.
Sweet Potatoes: Beta-Carotene Boost
Sweet potatoes are loaded with beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A. Vitamin A is essential for skin cell turnover, helping to renew and refresh the outer layer of your skin. This process contributes to a smoother complexion and can aid in managing conditions like acne. Additionally, sweet potatoes have anti-inflammatory properties that soothe irritated skin.
Avocado: Healthy Fats and Vitamins
Avocado is a versatile superfood that offers a rich source of healthy monounsaturated fats. These fats contribute to skin hydration and flexibility, preventing dryness and flakiness. Avocados are also packed with vitamins E and C, both of which play key roles in protecting the skin from oxidative damage and promoting a youthful glow.
Nuts and Seeds: Nutrient-Rich Snacking
Nuts and seeds, such as almonds, walnuts, and chia seeds, are nutrient powerhouses for your skin. Rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, these snacks provide essential nutrients for maintaining skin health. Omega-3 fatty acids in walnuts, for example, contribute to a healthy lipid barrier, preventing moisture loss and promoting a plump and well-hydrated complexion.
Incorporating these superfoods into your diet can significantly impact the health and appearance of your skin. Remember that a holistic approach to skincare involves both internal and external care. Embrace these nutrient-dense foods, stay hydrated, eat plenty of healthy fats to complement your skincare routine for a radiant complexion that reflects your overall well-being. Nourish your glow from the inside out and let your healthy skin shine!

]]>Summertime is officially here, and while we know that you've been asking us for a long time to make a sunscreen, there's a very valid reason that we've been unable to do so.
According to the FDA, sunscreen is considered an OTC (over the counter) drug.. In order to legally distribute an OTC drug, you must include a "Drug Facts" panel on your product (which includes all Active Ingredients).
You also (legally) must have your product made by a manufacturer who is licensed and approved by the FDA to manufacture OTC products (not everyone can do this).
Furthermore, all OTC-approved manufacturers are held to strict testing requirements. And the required testing for new sunscreens is VERY EXPENSIVE. And these costs are always passed down to the brand. On top of that, most of the approved OTC manufacturers in the US have very high MOQ's (minimum order quantities)...usually around 5,000 or 10,000 units. Being a small company, we do not have the ability to support these sorts of quantities and testing costs.
So yes, while we could easily and quickly formulate a product that would protect your skin from the sun, legally we would not be allowed to market it or sell it as a "sunscreen."
Please be wary of small brands out there that are selling you "sunscreens" without a "Drug Facts" label, because they likely have not gone through the proper channels, including proper testing of the SPF level claims.
A few brands that I typically recommend and like are Blue Lizard, Coola and Thinksport. However, since most brands are now aware of the consumer's desire for mineral based options, most brands (including some of the brands I mentioned here) are making sunscreens using different types of UV filters (chemical as well as mineral). So, this means that you always need to look at the ingredients panels before purchasing!
Stay away from brands that primarily use chemical sunscreens, like Avobenzone, Homosalate, Octisalate and Octocrylene as these chemicals can disrupt the natural hormones in your body.
Instead opt for formulas that primarily use minerals to filter UV rays, like Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide, as these filters are much much safer than their chemical counterparts!
However, as the mom of a 4 year old, and someone who's lucky if she plans ahead enough to even pack sunscreen, I want to say that the BEST sunscreen for your family is the one that is going to work for you! I've tried my fair share of mineral-based sunscreens that my family hated and straight up refused to wear. What good does a sunscreen do if just sits on your shelf? Also, I've heard so many stories recently about friends with family members who have been diagnosed with melanoma, and I want to say that sun protection is absolutely necessary when you're going to be outside for a long period of time! So, when it comes to how you choose to protect your family's skin from the sun, the best recommendation I can provide is Do The Best You Can with What You've Got! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

While both morning and evening routines play a vital role, the spotlight in this guide shines on the ultimate PM skincare routine.
Why is the PM routine so essential, you may ask? During the evening hours, your skin undergoes its reparative process, making it the perfect opportunity to nourish, rejuvenate, and awaken to a refreshed visage.
By embracing a consistent nighttime skincare routine, you unlock a world of benefits that contribute to not only the health of your skin but also the confidence it brings.
Together we'll learn how natural ingredients reveal their transformative powers, and moisturization and targeted treatments unveil your skin's true potential. Get ready to elevate your evening routine to an indulgent self-care ritual that pampers your skin and nourishes your soul.
Our skin is as unique as we are, and understanding its specific needs is crucial for crafting an effective skincare routine. When it comes to skin types, there are several common categories that most individuals fall into: dry, oily, combination, and sensitive.
Dry skin tends to feel tight, flaky, and lacks moisture, while oily skin appears shiny, with excess sebum production. Combination skin showcases characteristics of both dry and oily skin, often with an oily T-zone and drier cheeks.
Lastly, sensitive skin is prone to redness, irritation, and reacts easily to certain ingredients or environmental factors.
Identifying your skin type is the initial step in tailoring a skincare routine that addresses your unique concerns. To determine your skin type, start by cleansing your face thoroughly and allowing it to air dry without applying any products.
Observe how your skin feels and looks after approximately 30 minutes. Does it feel tight and dry? You likely have dry skin. Is there a noticeable shine or greasy texture? Oily skin might be your skin type.
If you notice a combination of dryness in certain areas and excess oiliness in others, you probably have combination skin. For those with sensitive skin, it's important to pay attention to any signs of redness, itchiness, or irritation that may arise from certain products or external factors.
Tailoring your evening routine to your specific skin type is paramount in achieving optimal results. Each skin type has its own set of needs and concerns, and using products formulated for your specific skin type can make a world of difference.
By selecting the right ingredients and products, you can effectively address issues such as hydration, sebum regulation, soothing sensitivity, or maintaining a balanced complexion.
Cleansing serves as the fundamental pillar of any skincare routine, and within the realm of PM skincare, its significance becomes even more pronounced.
Double cleansing is a technique that involves using an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based cleanser to effectively eliminate the accumulated makeup, dirt, and impurities from the day. This two-step process ensures a thorough cleanse that leaves your skin refreshed and revitalized.
A standout hero product in this nightly skincare routine is the cleansing balm, which boasts a luxurious texture that effortlessly melts away stubborn makeup and grime while simultaneously nourishing the skin.
Additionally, incorporating a cleansing oil provides a deep cleanse by dissolving excess oil and sebum, resulting in a revitalized complexion that feels clean and rejuvenated.
Toning holds a crucial place in a comprehensive nighttime routine. Not only does it assist in restoring the skin's natural pH balance, but it also primes the skin for enhanced absorption of subsequent products and can help clean skin and unclog pores.
Understanding the purpose of toning and its array of benefits, such as minimizing the appearance of pores and improving overall skin texture, paves the way for exploring natural toners made with witch hazel and apple cider vinegar.
These powerful ingredients, renowned for their astringent properties, work wonders in tightening and toning the skin, thereby promoting a smoother and more refined complexion. Specifically, apple cider vinegar plays a critical role in maintaining skin's PH levels!
To make the most of toners, it is important to use them effectively, whether it be gently patting them onto the skin or applying them with a cotton pad, ensuring optimal efficacy and maximum benefits.
Moisturizing constitutes a vital step in any PM skincare routine, as it plays a pivotal role in replenishing the skin's moisture barrier and locking in hydration while you sleep. Emphasizing the significance of moisturizing, especially during the night, sets the stage for delving into the multitude of benefits offered by face creams.
These creams are specifically formulated to nourish and hydrate the skin, providing essential nutrients and moisture to restore its natural balance.
Furthermore, the remarkable properties of natural face oils made with ingredients like pumpkin seed oil, argan oil, and jojoba oil shine through as they deeply moisturize and nourish the skin.
Laden with antioxidants and essential fatty acids, these oils work harmoniously to restore and maintain a healthy skin barrier, leaving your complexion supple, smooth, and luminous.
Shedding light on the benefits of particular ingredients, such as beef tallow, which contains essential vitamins and fatty acids that promote skin regeneration and hydration, showcases their pivotal role in targeting specific skin concerns.
In addition to its rich vitamin and fatty acid content, beef tallow offers a multitude of benefits for the skin. It possesses exceptional moisturizing properties, helping to nourish and soften the skin while creating a protective barrier that locks in moisture and can aid in skin repair, resulting in a plump and hydrated complexion.
Additionally, its natural emollient properties make it an excellent choice for those with dry or sensitive skin, as it helps to soothe and calm irritation, promoting a more balanced and resilient skin barrier.
Integrating targeted treatments into your nighttime routine can be a game-changer, addressing specific skin concerns and bolstering overall skin health.
Familiarizing yourself with the concept of incorporating treatments, such as serums or eye cream, opens up a world of possibilities to elevate your skincare regimen.
By providing tailored recommendations for incorporating treatments based on your unique skin type and concerns, such as suggesting a hyaluronic acid serum for dry skin or a tea tree oil spot treatment for acne-prone skin, you can make informed choices that align with your individual needs.
When integrating these fundamental elements into your nighttime routine, you establish a solid foundation for healthy, nourished skin.
From the meticulous cleansing process to the toning step, followed by moisturizing and the inclusion of targeted treatments, each facet plays a vital role in achieving a complexion that radiates health and vitality.
Consistency and patience are key factors in achieving visible results in your nighttime skincare routines. It's important to understand that skincare is a journey, and the benefits of a consistent routine may not be immediate.
By committing to a regular PM skincare regimen and sticking to it, you give your skin the time it needs to adapt and respond positively to the products and ingredients you incorporate.
Layering effectively is essential to maximize the benefits of each individual skincare product. Begin by applying lighter-textured products first, such as toners or serums, allowing them to penetrate the skin before layering heavier creams or oils. This ensures that each product can be absorbed optimally and deliver its intended benefits.
Patch testing is a crucial step when introducing new products into a good skincare routine.
Apply a small amount of the product to a discreet area of your skin, such as behind the ear or on the inner forearm, and observe for any adverse reactions over the next 24-48 hours. This helps identify potential allergies or sensitivities before applying the product to your entire face.
Additionally, it's advisable to introduce new skincare products gradually, one at a time, to monitor how your skin responds and identify any specific benefits or concerns.
While it's empowering to take charge of your skincare routine, it's important to recognize when professional advice may be necessary. If you have persistent skin issues or concerns that don't improve with your current routine, consulting a dermatologist or skincare professional can provide valuable insights and guidance.
They can help identify underlying issues, recommend suitable treatments or adjustments to your routine, and ensure that you're on the right track toward achieving your skincare goals.
By adhering to these tips, you can set yourself up for a successful full skincare routine that yields long-term benefits for your skin.
Remember, consistency, effective layering, patch testing, and seeking professional advice when needed are all integral aspects of cultivating a healthy and radiant complexion.
Stay dedicated, patient, and open to experimentation as you discover the unique combination of products and techniques that work best for you.

With concerns about the impact of these substances on our bodies growing louder, the allure of pure ingredients has never been more profound.
Have you ever wondered how to switch to natural deodorant? In this article, we’ll unravel the numerous benefits of embracing this new part of your daily routine.
Together, we will uncover the magic of organic coconut oil, shea butter, beef tallow, and aluminum-free baking soda—ingredients straight from Mother Nature's pantry—that have revolutionized the way we approach personal hygiene.
So, get ready to make an informed choice and discover the secrets behind a healthier, more sustainable personal care routine.
In today's health-conscious world, the demand for safe alternatives to conventional products is on the rise. One such product that has garnered significant attention is natural deodorant.
But what exactly is it, and how does it differ from its conventional counterparts?
Natural deodorant is a personal care product formulated with ingredients derived from nature, free from harsh chemicals like parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances.
Unlike mainstream deodorants, which often contain these potentially harmful substances, these deodorants prioritize the use of organic ingredients and essential oils known for their antibacterial and odor-neutralizing properties.
By avoiding synthetic chemicals, natural deodorants provide a gentler and safer option for our bodies.
On the other hand, conventional deodorants may raise concerns due to the presence of ingredients like aluminum compounds and artificial fragrances. Aluminum compounds, such as aluminum chlorohydrate and aluminum zirconium, are commonly used in antiperspirants to block sweat glands and reduce perspiration.
However, there are concerns about the potential health risks associated with the absorption of aluminum through the skin. Additionally, artificial fragrances used in conventional deodorants may contain phthalates, which are linked to endocrine disruption and allergic reactions in some individuals.
These concerns have led many people to seek out natural deodorants as a safer and more health-conscious choice.
By understanding the key differences between natural and conventional deodorants, you can make an informed decision about the products you choose to incorporate into your personal care routine.
The shift towards conscious hygiene reflects a growing awareness of the importance of using products that are not only effective but also safe and in harmony with our bodies and the environment.
When it comes to most natural deodorants, several key ingredients work synergistically to provide effective body odor control while nurturing the delicate underarm skin. Let's explore the role of these ingredients and their benefits.
Organic coconut oil, a staple in many of these deodorants, offers a multitude of benefits for the skin. Its deeply moisturizing properties help combat dryness and keep the underarm area soft and supple. Additionally, coconut oil boasts antibacterial properties that can inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria. By creating an unwelcome environment for bacteria, this oil aids in neutralizing unpleasant odors, making it an essential ingredient.
Another crucial ingredient is shea butter. Renowned for its skin-loving properties, shea butter provides deep nourishment and helps maintain the skin's moisture barrier. It acts as an emollient, sealing in moisture and preventing dryness, thus minimizing irritation and discomfort. Additionally, shea butter contributes to odor control by forming a protective layer on the skin's surface, reducing the chances of bacterial growth and the resulting odors. It can even help relieve razor burn and is typically safe for sensitive skin!
Some natural deodorants may include beef tallow, and it's important to recognize the beneficial qualities of this ingredient. Beef tallow is carefully selected for its exceptional moisturizing and nourishing properties. It serves as a rich source of replenishment for the skin's oils, resulting in deep hydration, enhanced suppleness, irritated skin relief, and a truly velvety texture. Additionally, tallow is anti-inflammatory and can often help to counteract the irritation that may sometimes result from sensitivity to baking soda.
When seeking an effective natural deodorant, one ingredient to look for is aluminum-free baking soda. Unlike its aluminum-containing counterparts found in conventional deodorants, aluminum-free baking soda provides a safe and preferred alternative. Using a natural process, it works by effectively neutralizing odors and helping to balance the skin's pH levels. This versatile ingredient ensures long-lasting freshness without compromising your health or the delicate balance of your skin.
An excellent ingredient often found in natural spray deodorants is raw apple cider vinegar. Raw apple cider vinegar, known for its multitude of health benefits, offers unique advantages when incorporated into deodorant formulations. Its natural acidity helps balance the pH of the underarm area, creating an unfavorable environment for odor-causing bacteria.
Additionally, apple cider vinegar's antibacterial properties help combat these bacteria's growth, providing effective odor control. Furthermore, apple cider vinegar has a refreshing and invigorating scent that can leave you feeling revitalized throughout the day.
Start with a gentle transition period. Your body may need time to adapt to natural deodorant. It's common to experience a detox period as your body regulates its natural processes.
Begin by using it on days with low activity, gradually increasing usage as your body becomes accustomed to it. You may experience a little extra sweat or a funky smell - but it won't last forever!
Natural deodorants come in various forms, including sticks, creams, and pastes. Consider your preferences and lifestyle when selecting the right one for you. It's crucial to read labels and understand the ingredients used. Look for deodorants that align with your values and avoid potentially harmful substances.
Detoxify your underarms. Underarm detoxification can help rid your body of toxins and residue from previous deodorant use. Consider incorporating gentle detox methods into your routine for the purging phase, such as exfoliating the underarm area and using a clay mask. These practices can aid in removing impurities from pores and promoting a healthier underarm environment. Try to avoid processed foods and drink lots of water!
Keep good hygiene practices. While using natural deodorant, it's important to maintain regular showering, hot baths, and cleanliness. Proper hygiene ensures that your deodorant works optimally. Consider using natural soaps and body washes, which are free from harsh chemicals and are gentle on the skin.
Give it time and be patient. Remember, everyone's own body chemistry is unique, and the adjustment period for natural deodorant may vary. Be patient and allow your body time to adapt.
It may take a few weeks for your body to regulate its sweat production and for the full effectiveness to be experienced. Stay persistent and give natural deodorant a fair chance to work its magic, and soon you'll see a big difference!
By following these suggestions, you can ease your transition process to natural deodorant, and enjoy the benefits of a healthier and more sustainable approach to personal care.
If you were wondering how to switch to natural deodorant, hopefully we were able to provide valuable insights!
We explored the definition of natural deodorant and its key differences from conventional alternatives. Whether you're a daring blonde, a fan of stunning highlights, or rocking silver or gray tresses, this blog is tailored specifically to those contemplating the purchase of this helpful product and looking for expert guidance on how to wield its transformative powers.
We'll equip you with the knowledge and expert techniques to make the most of purple shampoo, unlocking awe-inspiring results. Brace yourself for hair that steals the spotlight and leaves jaws dropping in its wake!
So, what does purple shampoo do? In order to fully grasp the power of purple shampoo, it's essential to delve into the inner workings behind its results in your hair care routine.
Essentially, it's a toning shampoo specially designed to counteract brassiness and unwanted yellow tones in the hair. It achieves this feat through a process known as color correction. Understanding the science behind color correction is key to appreciating the magic of purple shampoo.
When very bleached blonde hair and gray hair is exposed to environmental factors such as sunlight, heat styling, or even certain water minerals, it can develop unflattering orange tones. This occurs due to oxidation and the gradual breakdown of hair color molecules.
So, how does purple shampoo work? It utilizes violet pigments that sit opposite yellow on the color spectrum, effectively neutralizing those brassy hues. These violet pigments are the secret weapons in purple shampoo, responsible for its distinctive hue and effectiveness.
By providing an overview of the key ingredients responsible for the purple hue, we'll shed light on how purple shampoo achieves its color correction abilities on light blonde hair and silver hair.
Unlocking the secret to purple shampoo's transformative powers goes beyond just its purple color. Let's explore the key ingredients that make this shampoo a powerhouse in combating brassy blonde hair while simultaneously nourishing your locks.
At the heart of purple toning shampoo lies violet pigment, which plays a vital role in neutralizing yellow and brassy tones from your hair. By utilizing the principle of color theory, purple pigments work their charm by counteracting the warm, brassy hues with their cool, complementary tones.
While combating brassy hair, it's essential to keep your hair moisturized and healthy. That's where the moisturizing agents come into play. These ingredients not only nourish your hair but also work in harmony with color correction. One such moisturizing ingredient commonly found in purple shampoo is lavender oil.
With its hydrating properties, lavender oil acts as a moisturizer and soothing agent, helping to restore and maintain your hair's natural moisture balance.
Another noteworthy moisturizing agent in purple shampoo is beef tallow. Yes, you read that right! Beef tallow hair products restore moisture, promote shine, and leave your hair feeling silky smooth.
Grass fed beef tallow is rich in essential fatty acids, such as omega-3 and omega-6, which are vital for maintaining the health of the scalp and hair follicles. These fatty acids nourish the hair strands from within, promoting strength and elasticity.
Additionally, the presence of saturated fats in beef tallow helps to moisturize the hair and prevent dryness and brittleness. Regular use of beef tallow-based hair products can help combat issues like split ends and breakage, resulting in smoother, softer, and more manageable hair.
Moreover, beef tallow contains natural emollients and moisturizing properties that can benefit various hair types. Whether you have dry, damaged hair or struggle with frizz and flyaways, beef tallow can help restore moisture balance and tame unruly strands.
A healthy scalp is the foundation for stunning hair, and purple shampoo doesn't skimp on scalp and hair health boosters. Tea tree oil, a popular ingredient in many haircare products, plays a vital role in promoting a healthy scalp while reducing irritation.
Its antimicrobial properties help keep the scalp clean and free from dandruff, allowing your hair to thrive. Another remarkable ingredient found in purple shampoo is ginger root extract. Known for its nourishing properties, ginger root extract strengthens the hair follicles, promoting improved hair strength and growth.
By incorporating these carefully selected ingredients, purple shampoo not only corrects brassiness but also provides the added benefits of moisturization, scalp health, and hair nourishment.
To make the most of your purple shampoo and achieve cool blonde results, understanding its proper usage is key. Determining the frequency of use is the first step in using purple shampoo properly. Several factors come into play when deciding how often to incorporate it into your haircare routine.
Consider the intensity of brassiness in your hair, your hair tone, and your desired end result. It's important to strike a balance and avoid overuse, as excessive color correction can lead to unwanted cool or purple tones. Understanding the potential risks associated with excessive color correction will help you find the sweet spot and maintain beautiful, balanced hair color.
Let's dive into the step-by-step guide on how to use purple shampoo effectively, along with some additional tips for optimal results.
Start by wetting your hair thoroughly, allowing the water to saturate the strands from root to tip. Once your hair is wet, part it down the middle, creating two sections.
Take the purple shampoo bar in your hand and gently rub it along your scalp in a back-and-forth motion. The goal is to transfer the shampoo's lather onto your scalp and roots.
As you rub, move your fingertips over about an inch, parting the hair again, and repeat the process. This ensures that the shampoo bar touches all areas of the scalp, distributing the cleansing properties evenly.
Continue parting the hair and rubbing the shampoo bar against the scalp until you have covered all the roots. Pay extra attention to areas that tend to accumulate more oil or product buildup.
Once the entire scalp has been touched by the shampoo bar, it's time to scrub your scalp using your fingertips. Gently massage the shampoo into your scalp in circular motions, stimulating circulation and ensuring a thorough cleanse.
After scrubbing, rinse your hair thoroughly, making sure to remove all the shampoo from your scalp and strands.
Repeat the process if necessary, especially if you feel like your hair needs an extra round of cleansing. Follow up with your favorite conditioner bar for maximum hydration!
Begin by wetting your hair thoroughly. Take a dollop of shampoo and apply it evenly throughout your hair, focusing on areas prone to brassy tones.
Gently massage the shampoo into your scalp and hair, ensuring it covers every strand.
Leave purple shampoo on for the recommended duration specified on the product label. This allows the violet pigments to work their magic and neutralize brassy yellow tones.
Finally, rinse your hair thoroughly, making sure all the shampoo is washed out. Follow up with a purple conditioner to maintain the moisture balance and keep your locks silky smooth.
If you're in a rush, you can leave the purple shampoo on for a shorter period. Experiment with different timing to find what works best for your hair.
Additionally, consider using purple shampoo in conjunction with other hair care products. Pairing it with a moisturizing conditioner bar, natural hair oil, hair glosses, or a nourishing hair mask can enhance the overall health and vibrancy of your hair, leaving you with the ultimate salon-worthy results.
In the ever-evolving world of haircare, there's a rising star that's capturing the attention of conscious consumers and eco-warriors alike: shampoo bars.
As an alternative to traditional liquid shampoos, these solid wonders have been making waves for their numerous benefits.
In this section, we will explore the advantages of shampoo bars, ranging from environmental considerations to potential benefits for hair health and reducing plastic waste.
Shampoo bars come in a solid form, eliminating the need for plastic packaging and reducing the carbon footprint associated with manufacturing, transportation, and disposal.
With their compact and travel-friendly nature, shampoo bars offer convenience and ease of use, making them an attractive option for those on the go.
Beyond their positive environmental impact, shampoo bars may offer potential benefits for hair health. Many shampoo bars are formulated with natural and nourishing ingredients that can help promote healthy hair.
These ingredients, such as botanical extracts, essential oils, and grass fed beef tallow, can provide hydration, balance the scalp's natural oils, and improve overall hair condition.

In this comprehensive guide, we'll dive deep into the world of body butter, unveiling the roles and benefits of its key ingredients: coconut oil, coconut butter, shea butter, ylang ylang oil, and brace yourself...beef tallow!
Get ready to discover a skincare routine that will leave you feeling pampered, rejuvenated, and utterly radiant.
When it comes to body butters, a fundamental step toward unlocking their full potential lies in comprehending the key ingredients. Let's explore the roles and benefits of each carefully selected component.
Coconut oil, extracted from the flesh of mature coconuts, serves as a cornerstone ingredient in body butters. Its primary role is to provide deep hydration and moisturization, sinking into the skin to replenish lost moisture.
Beyond its moisturizing prowess, this oil boasts natural antibacterial properties that help protect the skin from harmful pathogens. Additionally, this miraculous ingredient possesses skin-softening effects, leaving your skin feeling supple, smooth, and rejuvenated.
Distinct from coconut oil, coconut butter contributes a unique richness and texture to body butter formulations. Derived from the flesh of coconuts, it acts as a vital enhancer, elevating the overall sensory experience.
Coconut butter goes beyond mere indulgence by promoting skin elasticity, imparting a youthful firmness to the skin. It also aids in soothing dryness and preventing moisture loss, ensuring your skin stays hydrated for longer periods.
Extracted from the nuts of the shea tree, shea butter boasts an impressive reputation for delivering intense hydration and nourishment. Its presence in body butter formulas offers a potent dose of moisture, effectively combating dryness and promoting a smoother, more supple complexion.
Moreover, shea butter possesses remarkable properties that restore the skin's natural barrier, aiding in moisture retention. Its anti-inflammatory attributes also help to reduce redness and soothe irritated skin, while its abundance of vitamins and antioxidants contribute to a youthful, radiant appearance.
Ylang ylang essential oil, obtained through the steam distillation of the blossoms of the Cananga odorata tree, serves a dual purpose in body butter formulations. First and foremost, it imparts a captivating fragrance, adding a touch of luxury and sensory delight to the product.
Beyond its aromatic allure, ylang ylang essential oil offers a range of therapeutic benefits. It is renowned for its calming effects on the mind and body, promoting relaxation and stress relief. Additionally, this enchanting oil can uplift the mood, infusing a sense of tranquility and balance into your skincare routine.
Now, prepare to be amazed as we unveil a truly exceptional ingredient in spreadable body butter: beef tallow. Derived from the fat of cattle, beef tallow offers a myriad of skin benefits that elevate the effectiveness of body butter. Its primary role lies in delivering deep moisturization, penetrating the skin to provide long-lasting hydration.
Furthermore, beef tallow promotes skin cell regeneration, assisting in the repair and renewal process. It possesses anti-inflammatory properties, soothing irritated skin and reducing redness. Moreover, beef tallow is known to balance oil production, making it suitable for various skin types to maintain skin's moisture levels.
So, how do you use tallow body butter? Let's explore the proper techniques for application and storage.
Begin by cleansing your skin to remove any impurities or residues that may hinder absorption. Choose a gentle cleanser suited to your skin type, and thoroughly rinse with warm water. After cleansing, pat your skin dry with a soft towel, leaving it slightly damp. This helps wet skin to lock in moisture and enhances the effectiveness of the body butter.
Start by scooping a small amount of tallow body butter from the jar using clean, dry fingers or a spatula. Remember, a little goes a long way, so start with a conservative amount.
Warm the product between your palms by gently rubbing them together until it melts slightly. The natural warmth facilitates smooth application and ensures the even distribution of the product.
With your palms, gently massage the tallow body butter directly in a thin layer onto your skin, focusing on dry areas or areas in need of extra attention. Use upward circular motions to promote absorption and stimulate circulation.
Allow the body butter to fully absorb into your skin for a few minutes before dressing. This allows the nourishing ingredients to penetrate deeply and provide long-lasting hydration.
To reap the maximum benefits of tallow body butter, follow these guidelines:
Incorporate the use of body butters into your daily skincare routine or as needed. Pay attention to your skin's needs and adjust the frequency accordingly. It's perfectly okay to use body butter daily!
Pro tip: keep in mind that body butter can also be used as a shaving cream! Simply apply a thin layer for a close and smooth shave. You'll enjoy less skin irritation and a more luxurious steamy hot shower!
Preserve the quality and efficacy of your body butter by storing it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Excessive heat and sunlight exposure can compromise the integrity of the product.
Check the product label for specific information regarding the expiration date or recommended usage duration. It's essential to use the body butter within its recommended shelf life to ensure its potency and effectiveness.
By following these simple yet crucial steps, you can maximize the benefits of tallow body butter and indulge your skin in the intense moisture treatment it craves.
Enhancing your body butter experience goes beyond the basic application techniques. Let's explore some additional tips and precautions to consider for a personalized and safe skincare routine.
Before applying body butter all over your body, it's crucial to conduct a patch test. This step is essential to ensure that you don't have any adverse reactions or allergies to the product.
Patch testing involves applying a small amount of the body butter on a discreet area of your skin, such as the inner arm or behind the ear. Allow it to sit for 24 hours without washing it off.
Observe the patch test area for any signs of redness, itching, irritation, or discomfort during this period. If you experience any adverse reactions, refrain from using the body butter on larger areas of your body.
Every individual has unique sensitivities and potential allergies, making it crucial to be aware of your own skin's reactions.
It's important to familiarize yourself with any known allergies you may have, especially to the ingredients mentioned in the blog. If you're uncertain, consult a dermatologist or conduct an allergy test to identify potential triggers.
In the case of allergies or sensitivities to specific ingredients, there are alternative options available. For example, if you're allergic to shea butter, consider exploring body butter formulations that use jojoba oil, mango butter, almond oil, or cocoa butter. Always read the product labels carefully to ensure they align with your specific needs.

When it comes to moisturizing and nourishing your skin, you may have come across two popular options: body butter and body lotion.
While both body moisturizers aim to provide hydration, help soften skin, and improve skin texture, there are notable differences between the two. Let's explore the distinctions to help you make an informed choice based on your skincare needs.
Body butter typically has a thicker and richer consistency compared to lotion. It often contains higher concentrations of natural butters and oils, making it ideal for intense hydration and deep nourishment. The texture of body butter allows it to create a protective barrier on the skin, sealing in moisture for longer-lasting hydration.
On the other hand, lotion has a lighter texture and is easily absorbed into the skin. It usually contains a higher water content and lighter oils. Body lotion is often preferred for those who prefer a lightweight feel or need a moisturizer for more frequent application throughout the day.
Due to its richer formulation, body butter provides a higher level of hydration and is especially beneficial for dry, dehydrated skin. It works effectively in replenishing moisture and revitalizing parched skin and helping skin heal, making it an excellent choice for colder months or areas with low humidity.
Lotion, while still providing hydration, may not be as potent as body butter in terms of deeply moisturizing the skin. It is suitable for maintaining the skin's hydration level, especially for individuals with normal to slightly dry skin.
Body butter is often recommended for specific areas of the body that require extra care, such as elbows, knees, heels, and other rough or dry patches. Its thicker texture allows for targeted application and prolonged moisture retention in these areas. Due to its healing properties, tallow body butter is soothing for skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, keratosis pilaris, cradle cap, diaper rash, and so much more!
Body lotion, with its lighter consistency, is generally more versatile and can be used on larger areas of the body. It is commonly applied all over the body for overall hydration and to maintain the skin's softness and suppleness.
Ultimately, the choice between body butter and body lotion depends on your individual skin type, preferences, and specific needs. If you have very dry skin or require intense hydration, body butter may be the ideal option. If you prefer a lightweight, easily absorbed moisturizer or need a product for daily use, body lotion may be more suitable.
Remember, experimenting with different products and observing how your skin responds is key to finding the perfect moisturizer that leaves your skin feeling healthy, nourished, and radiant.
Understanding the ingredients and proper usage of tallow body butter can elevate your skincare routine to new heights. With the rising popularity of body butter as a go-to product for deep nourishment and hydration, it becomes essential to familiarize yourself with the key ingredients that contribute to its effectiveness.
Coconut oil, coconut butter, shea butter, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, and beef tallow each play a unique role in body butter formulations, offering a range of benefits such as hydration, moisturization, softening effects, and even fragrance.
Among these ingredients, beef tallow stands out as a remarkable addition due to its exceptional properties in skincare, including deep moisturization, skin cell regeneration, inflammation reduction, and oil production balance.
To use tallow body butter effectively, preparation and proper application techniques are crucial. By cleansing the skin, leaving it slightly damp, and following the recommended steps for application, you can optimize the absorption and benefits of the body butter. Additionally, being aware of recommended usage frequency, proper storage, and potential allergies or sensitivities ensures a safe and personalized skincare experience.
FATCO's beef tallow Body Butta is a standout choice, offering a range of varieties tailored to different needs and preferences. Their commitment to responsibly sourcing quality grass-fed beef tallow reflects their dedication to sustainable practices and superior product quality.
Lastly, understanding the difference between body butters and body lotions allows you to make an informed decision based on your specific skincare needs. While body butter provides intense hydration and is ideal for dry skin or targeted areas, body lotion offers a lighter, versatile option for overall moisturization.
Prioritize your skin's health and well-being by incorporating tallow body butter into your daily self-care ritual, and let your skin radiate with a healthy, vibrant glow!
]]>Yes, you read that right—tallow, derived from the fat of grass fed, pasture-raised beef cattle. While it may sound unconventional at first, beef tallow has been used for centuries in skin care, cherished for its remarkable benefits and undeniable efficacy.
In this blog, we delve into the world of tallow skin care to unravel the truth behind its effectiveness. We will address common concerns, debunk misconceptions, and showcase the science-backed reasons why this natural ingredient truly works. By the end, you'll have a comprehensive understanding of why this powerful ingredient deserves its place in your skin care routine.
Prepare to be amazed as we unveil the secrets of this natural, time-tested ingredient and discover how it can transform your skin care regimen. Get ready to unlock the true potential of beef tallow and witness the tangible results it can deliver for your skin!
Tallow skin care stands out for its commitment to quality from the very beginning. Reputable brands, such as FATCO, recognize the importance of sourcing high-quality tallow. They use tallow derived from grass fed, pasture-raised beef cattle, ensuring that the starting material is of the utmost purity. By selecting grass fed animals raised in natural and healthy environments, these brands can offer skin care products free from impurities commonly associated with conventional sourcing.
Tallow possesses remarkable properties that contribute to the longevity and quality of skin care products. Its composition includes saturated fats, which have a higher resistance to oxidation compared to other types of fats and oils. As a result, tallow serves as a natural preservative, enhancing the shelf stability of skin care formulations. This stability ensures that these products retain their efficacy over an extended period, providing consistent benefits to the skin.
The stability of beef tallow not only extends the shelf life of these products but also plays an important role in maintaining their quality. Their resistance to oxidation prevents rancidity and degradation of active ingredients, ensuring that the product retains its potency and effectiveness.
Grass fed tallow skin care may raise concerns for individuals seeking cruelty-free options. However, it is important to understand the ethical considerations surrounding the use of animal fats. Animal fat is a natural byproduct of the meat industry, specifically the utilization of all parts of the animal through the nose-to-tail concept. This approach promotes the responsible and sustainable use of animal resources, ensuring that no part goes to waste.
By incorporating beef tallow into skin care products, companies like FATCO embrace the philosophy of utilizing the entirety of the animal, aligning with sustainable practices. This ethical use of animal fats contributes to reducing waste and fostering a more environmentally conscious approach within the beauty industry. Supporting these brands allows individuals to appreciate the holistic value of animals and encourages more responsible use of available resources.
One common concern associated with tallow skin care is the potential for unpleasant odors. However, careful purification ensures the tallow is highly effective but also free from any unpleasant odors, providing a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Additionally, many of these products incorporate essential oils, which impart a pleasant, natural scent.
By addressing impurity problems, highlighting stability, recognizing the ethical utilization of animal fats, and tackling odor concerns, tallow skin care brands like FATCO prove their commitment to delivering effective, high-quality products.
One of the key factors contributing to the effectiveness of beef tallow skin care lies in its remarkable similarity to the lipids naturally present in our skin. Tallow is composed primarily of triglycerides, which are fatty acids that closely resemble the structure of human skin lipids. This similarity allows beef tallow to be easily recognized and accepted by the skin, making it highly compatible and capable of delivering nourishment and moisture effectively.
Scientific studies have explored the benefits of animal fats and oils and their ability to enhance skin hydration, improve skin barrier function, and promote overall skin health. Additionally, research has demonstrated the anti-inflammatory and soothing properties of tallow, making it a valuable ingredient for addressing various skin concerns.
The unique composition of beef tallow allows it to provide multiple benefits to the skin. Firstly, tallow acts as an excellent moisturizer by forming a protective barrier on the skin's surface. This barrier helps to prevent moisture loss, keeping the skin hydrated and supple. Furthermore, the fatty acids present in tallow provide nourishment to the skin, replenishing essential nutrients and supporting optimal skin health. The occlusive nature of tallow also assists in protecting the skin from environmental stressors, such as harsh weather conditions and pollution.
Additionally, the presence of natural antioxidants in tallow helps to combat free radicals, which can contribute to premature aging and skin damage. By neutralizing these harmful molecules, tallow contributes to the overall preservation and rejuvenation of the skin.
Tallow prodcuts offer a range of benefits that contribute to healthier, more radiant skin. Let's delve into the specific advantages that make beef tallow an exceptional choice for skin care enthusiasts:
The protective qualities of beef tallow are highly beneficial in shielding the skin from environmental stressors. Tallow forms a barrier on the skin's surface, acting as a protective shield against harsh weather conditions, pollution, and UV radiation. This barrier function helps to minimize the damaging effects of external factors, keeping the skin healthier and more resilient.
A compromised skin barrier can lead to various skin concerns, including dryness, sensitivity, and irritation. Tallow products excel in restoring and repairing the skin's natural barrier. The composition of tallow closely resembles the lipids found in the skin, allowing it to effectively replenish and reinforce the barrier function while being incredibly nourishing. This restoration supports overall skin health and enhances its ability to retain moisture, leading to improved skin texture and resilience.
Inflammation is a common underlying factor in many skin issues, including acne, redness, and irritation. Beef tallow possesses anti-inflammatory properties that can help calm and soothe the skin. The presence of natural compounds like vitamin E and antioxidants aids in reducing inflammation, promoting a more balanced and calmer complexion.
Whether you have dry, oily, sensitive, combination, or sensitive skin, tallow can be tailored to suit your specific needs. It works harmoniously with the skin's natural biology, making it a versatile ingredient that can benefit individuals with different skin concerns.
By incorporating tallow products into your routine, you can experience the transformative beneficial properties they offer. From deep moisturization and protection against environmental factors to skin barrier restoration, anti-inflammatory properties, and compatibility with different skin types, these products prove to be a versatile and effective solution for achieving healthy, radiant skin.
Despite the numerous benefits and effectiveness of tallow, there are some common misconceptions that exist. Let's address three of the most prevalent misconceptions and shed light on the truth behind them:
One of the misconceptions surrounding this type of skin care is the belief that it clogs pores and leads to breakouts. However, this is not necessarily the case. The composition of beef tallow, particularly its similarity to human skin lipids, actually allows it to be easily recognized and assimilated by the skin. When sourced from high-quality and properly refined tallow, the risk of clogging pores is minimal. In fact, many individuals find that tallow skin care products can help balance the skin's oil production and alleviate issues such as acne and breakouts.
Another misconception is the belief that animal fats, including beef tallow, are inferior to plant-based alternatives in skin care. While plant-based oils and fats have their merits, it is important to recognize that animal fats, such as beef tallow, offer unique benefits that can significantly contribute to skin health.
The rich composition of beef tallow, resembling the lipids found in human skin, makes it highly compatible and effective in nourishing and hydrating the skin. Furthermore, the stability and protective properties of beef tallow provide additional advantages that are distinct from plant-based alternatives.
The high oleic content in beef tallow contributes to several benefits in skin care. Oleic acid is a monounsaturated fatty acid that is richly present in beef tallow and plays a significant role in its effectiveness. Here are some benefits associated with beef tallow's high oleic content:
Oleic acid has excellent moisturizing properties, helping to hydrate and nourish the skin. It forms a protective barrier on the skin's surface, preventing moisture loss and promoting long-lasting hydration. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with dry or dehydrated skin. Pro tip: look for tallow products that incorporate coconut oil!
The high oleic acid content in beef tallow enhances its ability to penetrate the skin deeply. This allows the nourishing and moisturizing components of tallow to reach the deeper layers of the skin, providing optimal benefits and improving skin health from within.
Oleic acid possesses anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe and calm the skin. It can help alleviate redness, irritation, and inflammation associated with various skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis.
Oleic acid exhibits antioxidant activity, which helps protect the skin from free radicals and oxidative stress. Free radicals can damage the skin, leading to premature aging and other skin concerns. The antioxidant properties of oleic acid help neutralize these harmful molecules, promoting a more youthful and radiant complexion.
The high oleic acid content in beef tallow contributes to its stability. Oleic acid is less prone to oxidation, making tallow more resistant to rancidity and ensuring a longer shelf life for skin care products containing beef tallow.
Overall, the high oleic acid content in beef tallow enhances its moisturizing properties, improves skin penetration, provides anti-inflammatory benefits, exhibits antioxidant activity, and contributes to the stability of skin care formulations. These qualities make beef tallow an effective ingredient for nourishing and protecting the skin.

]]>Your morning skincare routine sets the tone for the entire day. It not only helps you achieve healthy and glowing skin but also prepares your complexion to face the challenges that lie ahead. By dedicating a few moments each morning to pamper your skin, you can enhance its natural beauty and boost your self-confidence.
In this comprehensive guide, we'll take you through the essential steps and tips to create the perfect AM skincare routine. Whether you're a skincare enthusiast or just starting your skincare journey, this guide will help you understand the significance of each step and provide practical advice to make the most of your morning routine.
Get ready to unlock the secrets to a radiant complexion that will make you feel like you're glowing from within. Let's dive in and discover the transformative power of a well-crafted AM skincare routine.
Before starting a new skincare routine, it's crucial to understand your unique skin type. Each person's skin is different, and knowing your skin type will allow you to choose the most suitable products and tailor your routine to address its specific needs.
There are generally four primary skin types: oily, dry, combination, and sensitive. Oily skin tends to have excess sebum production, leading to shine and potential breakouts.
Dry skin lacks moisture, often resulting in tightness and flakiness. Combination skin features both oily and dry areas, typically with an oily T-zone and drier cheeks. Lastly, sensitive skin is easily irritated and prone to redness and reactions.
To determine your skin type, observe how your skin behaves throughout the day. Pay attention to factors like oiliness, dryness, sensitivity, and any specific concerns you may have. Consulting a dermatologist can also provide valuable insights into your skin type and condition.
Once you've identified your skin type, it's time to customize your skincare routine accordingly. Different skin types require specific care to maintain balance and address any concerns effectively.
For oily skin, incorporating gentle and lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizers can help control excess oil production. Look for products containing ingredients like salicylic acid or tea tree oil to manage breakouts.
If you have dry skin, focus on hydrating and nourishing your skin with creamy cleansers and richer moisturizers. Look for products containing organic coconut oil or shea butter to replenish moisture and support your skin's barrier function. For example, FATCO's nourishing tallow cleansing balm melts into skin while washing away impurities - it can even restore an even skin tone!
Combination skin requires a balanced approach. Use a gentle cleanser to avoid stripping the skin, and consider using a mattifying product or toner on the oily areas. Use a lightweight moisturizer on the entire face while applying a slightly heavier moisturizer on drier areas. Oil cleansers are a fantastic option!
Sensitive skin needs extra care to avoid irritations. Opt for fragrance-free, hypoallergenic products with soothing ingredients like aloe vera or chamomile. Perform patch tests before incorporating new products into your routine to ensure they won't cause adverse reactions.
Remember, understanding your skin type is the foundation of an effective skincare routine. By tailoring your products and steps to your specific needs, you can achieve optimal results and address any concerns more efficiently.
Did you know that using cleansers in the morning can strip away your skin's natural oils and disrupt its delicate balance? Instead, opt for using just a few splashes of cold or lukewarm water, which protects your skin's integrity and leaves it feeling clean and refreshed without causing dryness or irritation.
If you feel like you must use a cleanser in the morning, we suggest choosing a very mild product like FATCO's Baby Fat Bar.
Toning is a vital step in your morning skincare routine that often goes overlooked. Incorporating a toner can offer numerous benefits for your skin, helping to balance pH levels, refine pores, and enhance the overall effectiveness of your skincare products.
One of the primary benefits of toning is restoring the skin's natural pH balance. Cleansers, especially those with a higher pH, can temporarily disrupt the skin's pH, leaving it more alkaline. Toning with a pH-balanced toner helps bring the skin back to its optimal acidic state, promoting a healthier complexion.
Toners also help tighten and refine the appearance of pores. By removing any residue or impurities that may have been missed during cleansing, toners provide a deep clean, minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores. This can create a smoother canvas for makeup application and contribute to a more even skin texture.
Furthermore, toners prep the skin for better absorption of subsequent skincare products. By lightly hydrating and balancing the skin, toners allow serums, moisturizers, and other treatments to penetrate more effectively, maximizing their benefits.
Choosing the right toner for your skin is crucial to ensure optimal results. Consider the following factors when selecting a toner:
Look for a toner specifically formulated for your skin type. For oily or acne-prone skin, opt for toners with ingredients like salicylic acid or witch hazel to help control excess oil and minimize breakouts. Dry or sensitive skin can benefit from hydrating toners that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, essential oils, or rosewater to soothe and nourish the skin. Normal skin types can benefit from a variety of natural toners.
Pay attention to the ingredients list and avoid toners with potential irritants like alcohol, artificial fragrances, or harsh chemicals. Instead, opt for toners with natural extracts, antioxidants, or gentle hydrating ingredients to support and enhance your skin's health.
Toners come in various forms, including liquid, mist, or gel. Choose a formulation that you find convenient and enjoyable to use. Some may prefer a traditional liquid toner applied with a cotton pad, while others might prefer a refreshing facial mist that can be sprayed directly onto the skin.
To ensure optimal results, follow these steps for applying toner:
After cleansing your face, take a small amount of toner on a cotton pad or in your hands.
Gently sweep the toner over your face and neck, avoiding the delicate eye area. If you prefer using your hands, lightly pat the toner onto your skin, ensuring even coverage.
Allow the toner to absorb into your skin for a few moments before proceeding with the next steps of your skincare routine.
Remember, less is more when it comes to toner. Avoid over-applying or saturating your skin with excessive product, as it can lead to product buildup or potential irritation.
By incorporating a suitable toner into your morning skincare routine and applying it properly, you can experience the benefits of balanced, refined skin and enhance the overall effectiveness of your skincare products.
Hydration is a fundamental aspect of maintaining healthy and radiant skin. Properly hydrated skin not only looks plump and supple but also functions optimally, retaining moisture and supporting its natural protective barrier.
Throughout the day, our skin is exposed to various external factors that can lead to moisture loss, such as harsh weather conditions, air conditioning, or indoor heating. Therefore, incorporating hydration into your morning skincare routine is vital to replenish and lock in moisture, keeping your skin hydrated and resilient.
Hydration helps to improve the overall appearance and texture of your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and promoting a smoother complexion. It also helps to balance oil production, as dehydrated skin can overcompensate by producing more oil, potentially leading to breakouts. By maintaining proper hydration, you can achieve a more balanced and healthy-looking complexion.
A lightweight moisturizer is a key component of your morning skincare routine, providing essential hydration without feeling heavy or greasy on the skin. It's important to choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type and addresses any specific concerns you may have.
For oily or acne-prone skin, opt for gentle moisturizers that provide hydration without clogging pores. Look for non-comedogenic formulas that contain ingredients like rosehip seed oil or aloe vera, which offer lightweight hydration while maintaining a matte finish.
Dry or sensitive skin can benefit from moisturizers with richer textures and ingredients that deeply nourish and replenish moisture. Look for formulations that contain grass-fed beef tallow, shea butter, or natural oils like jojoba or pumpkin seed oil to help restore and retain hydration throughout the day.
Combination skin can benefit from using different moisturizers on different areas of the face. Use a lightweight moisturizer on the oily T-zone to prevent excessive shine, and opt for a more hydrating moisturizer on drier areas like the cheeks.
When applying moisturizer, start with a clean and toned face. Take a small amount of moisturizer and gently massage it into your skin using upward and outward motions. Allow the moisturizer to fully absorb before proceeding with any makeup application.
Remember, hydration is a vital step in maintaining a healthy and youthful complexion. By incorporating a lightweight moisturizer into your morning skincare routine, you can replenish and lock in moisture, ensuring your skin stays hydrated, nourished, and ready to face the day.
Natural skincare products have gained popularity for their ability to provide effective and gentle care while minimizing exposure to potentially harmful synthetic ingredients. They harness the power of nature to nourish, protect, and enhance the health of your skin.
One of the significant advantages of natural skincare products is their high concentration of active botanical extracts, vitamins, and antioxidants. These ingredients can help rejuvenate the skin, promote collagen production, and provide essential nutrients for a youthful complexion.
Natural skincare products also tend to be free from harsh chemicals, artificial fragrances, and potentially irritating substances. This makes them suitable for individuals with sensitive skin or those who prefer a more environmentally friendly and sustainable approach to skincare.
While natural ingredients are often used in skincare products, beef tallow is a lesser-known but effective option. Beef tallow is rendered fat from cattle, and when used in skincare, it offers several benefits for nourishment and moisture.
Beef tallow is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as essential fatty acids. These nutrients help improve skin elasticity, maintain moisture levels, and provide nourishment to the skin cells. The fatty acids in beef tallow help create a protective barrier on the skin, preventing moisture loss and enhancing hydration.
Additionally, beef tallow has a similar molecular structure to human skin lipids, making it highly compatible and easily absorbed. This allows it to penetrate deeply into the skin, delivering nutrients and providing long-lasting moisture.
When incorporating beef tallow skincare products into your routine, look for high-quality, ethically sourced options from reputable brands.
Products like beef tallow balms or creams can be applied as moisturizers or targeted treatments to areas prone to dryness or dehydration. They can be particularly beneficial for individuals with dry or mature skin types, as well as those living in harsh climates or facing environmental stressors.
By exploring the world of natural skincare products and considering the benefits of ingredients like grass-fed beef tallow, you can enhance your skincare routine with nourishing and moisturizing elements derived from nature. Embrace the power of natural ingredients to promote healthier, more radiant skin.
When it comes to skincare, setting realistic goals and expectations is essential for building a consistent routine. Understand that the best skincare routine is a journey, and visible results may take time. Be patient with your skin and avoid expecting overnight transformations.
Set specific and achievable goals based on your skin concerns. Whether it's improving hydration, reducing acne, or addressing signs of aging, having clear objectives can help you stay motivated and focused on your skincare routine.
Remember that everyone's skin is unique, and what works for others may not work the same way for you. Tailor your expectations to your individual skin type and condition, and give your routine enough time to yield noticeable improvements.
Consistency is key when it comes to skincare. Establishing a consistent morning routine sets the foundation for healthy skin and ensures that you maintain the benefits of your skincare products throughout the day.
Start by determining the essential steps for your morning routine based on your skin type and concerns. This typically includes cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and applying any targeted treatments or SPF.
Create a schedule that fits your lifestyle and allows enough time for your skincare routine. Consider waking up a few minutes earlier if needed, or streamline your routine by selecting multi-purpose products that save time without compromising efficacy.
Make your skincare routine a pleasurable experience. Create a peaceful and inviting environment in your bathroom, play some relaxing music, or incorporate mindfulness techniques while applying your products. Enjoying the process will help you stick to your routine in the long run.
Sticking to a skincare routine can sometimes be challenging, especially when life gets busy or you face unexpected obstacles. However, with the right strategies and mindset, you can overcome these challenges and stay motivated on your skincare journey.
Firstly, prioritize self-care and view your skincare routine as a form of self-love. Understand that taking care of your skin is an investment in your overall well-being and confidence.
Find accountability partners or join skincare communities where you can share your progress, seek advice, and stay motivated. Connecting with others who share similar skincare goals can provide support, encouragement, and inspiration.
If you find yourself losing motivation, remind yourself of the long-term benefits of consistent skincare. Reflect on the positive changes you've already observed and envision the healthy and radiant skin you're working towards.
Lastly, be adaptable and flexible with your routine. Life happens, and there may be times when you need to adjust your skincare routine to fit your circumstances. Embrace these changes while keeping the core principles of cleansing, nourishing, and protecting your skin intact.
Congratulations! By following this guide, you've gained valuable insights into crafting the perfect AM skincare routine. From understanding your skin type to incorporating essential steps and nourishing ingredients, you're well on your way to achieving healthy, glowing skin that lasts throughout the day.

By embracing the perfect AM skincare routine, you're not just investing in your skin's health and appearance, but also in your overall well-being. Healthy, glowing skin can boost your confidence, enhance your natural beauty, and serve as a reflection of your self-care practices.

]]>In this blog, we'll dive deep into the world of facial moisturization, unveiling expert tips, when to do it, and the essential ingredients you should be on the lookout for.
So, grab your favorite beverage, settle into a comfortable spot, and get ready to unlock the secrets to a well-hydrated, nourished, and utterly radiant face.
When it comes to skincare, few steps are as essential and rewarding as moisturizing. Proper moisturization plays a vital role in achieving and maintaining healthy, glowing skin. Understanding the basics of moisturizing is the first step towards unlocking a well-hydrated complexion that radiates beauty from within.
Moisturizing is not just a mere luxury; it is a fundamental aspect of skincare that should never be overlooked. By applying a moisturizer to your face, you provide your skin with much-needed hydration, nourishment, and protection. The significance of moisturizing goes beyond superficial benefits, as it directly impacts the overall health and appearance of your skin.
One crucial aspect of moisturizing is choosing the right product for your specific skin type. Every individual's skin is unique, and what works wonders for one person may not necessarily yield the same results for another. Identifying your skin type—whether it's dry, oily, combination, or sensitive—is key to selecting a moisturizer that caters to your skin's specific needs.
Regardless of your skin type, moisturizers play a crucial role in maintaining skin hydration and preventing dryness. By replenishing the moisture that your skin naturally loses throughout the day, moisturizers help restore and strengthen the skin barrier. This, in turn, aids in preventing water loss, protecting your skin from external aggressors, and promoting a plump, youthful appearance.
The question on many skincare enthusiasts' minds is, "How much moisturizer should I use?" Finding the right amount of moisturizer for your face is crucial to strike the perfect balance between hydration and preventing any potential skin issues. While there is no one-size-fits-all answer, several factors come into play when determining the ideal amount.
First and foremost, the golden rule is to consider your skin type. Dry skin types generally require a more generous application of moisturizer compared to oily or combination skin. If you have dry skin, you may find that using a slightly larger amount helps to alleviate any tightness or discomfort. If you have oily skin, it's important not to skip moisturization! Contrary to popular belief, adding oils and moisturizers to your skincare routine can actually help your skin re-adjust its own sebum (or oil) production and potentially reduce or even eliminate excessive oiliness.
The climate you live in also affects how much moisturizer you should use. In drier climates or during colder months, your skin may experience more moisture loss, requiring a slightly heavier application of moisturizer. Conversely, in humid climates or during the warmer months, a lighter application may be sufficient to provide the necessary hydration without overwhelming the skin.
Additionally, consider the consistency of the moisturizer you're using. Thicker, cream-based moisturizers tend to provide more intense hydration and may require a smaller amount. Conversely, lightweight gel or lotion formulations may necessitate a slightly larger amount to adequately cover the face.
While these factors provide some guidance, a general guideline recommended by experts is to start with a half of a dime sized amount and adjust accordingly. Remember, it's easier to add more product if needed rather than removing excess. Begin by gently applying small sized dollop of the moisturizer to your face and neck, ensuring even coverage. If you find that your skin still feels dry or tight, you can gradually increase the amount until you achieve the desired level of hydration.
It's important to note the general rule that excessive use of moisturizer can have negative consequences. Applying an excessive amount may lead to the skin feeling greasy or cause clogged pores, potentially resulting in breakouts. Moderation is key when it comes to moisturizing, as too much can hinder the skin's natural ability to breathe and regulate oil production. Finding the right balance is crucial for maintaining a healthy, hydrated complexion.
To truly unlock the power of moisturization and achieve a complexion that radiates with hydration and vitality, it's essential to follow a few expert tips. These practical suggestions will help you make the most out of your moisturizing routine and enhance the effectiveness of the products you use.
Before applying moisturizer, ensure that your face is thoroughly cleansed. Cleansing removes impurities, excess oil, and dead cells, allowing the moisturizer to penetrate the skin more effectively. Choose a gentle cleanser suited to your skin type and make it a part of your daily skincare ritual. Note: if cleansing in the morning, we suggest using only a few splashes of warm water.
Consider incorporating a natural toner into your skincare routine after cleansing. Toners can help balance the skin's pH level, hydrate, and prepare the skin for better absorption of subsequent products. Look for alcohol-free formulas containing soothing ingredients like rosewater, apple cider vinegar, or witch hazel to reap the maximum benefits. Say goodbye to dull skin, and hello to a dewy complexion!
For optimal absorption and hydration, apply a thin layer of moisturizer to slightly damp skin. Pat your entire face gently with a clean towel after cleansing, or mist your skin with a hydrating facial mist before moisturizing. Moist skin helps lock in moisture and allows the moisturizer to spread evenly, providing a boost of hydration throughout the day.
When applying moisturizer, take the time to massage it into your skin using gentle, upward motions. This massage technique helps promote circulation, removes dead skin cells, and aids in the absorption of the product. Start from the center of your face and move outward, using light pressure and upward strokes to lift and rejuvenate the skin.
Consider using moisturizers made with natural ingredients to provide your skin with a nourishing experience. Natural ingredients, such as aloe vera, shea butter, jojoba oil, grass-fed beef tallow, and essential oils, offer a multitude of benefits. They can provide deep hydration, soothe inflammation, and replenish vital nutrients, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
By incorporating these expert tips into your moisturizing routine, you can enhance the effectiveness of your skincare products and elevate your overall results. Remember, consistency is key when it comes to skincare, so make sure to follow these practices daily to maintain a well-hydrated and radiant complexion.
Timing is everything when it comes to moisturizing your face. By understanding the ideal moments to apply moisturizer, you can maximize its effectiveness and ensure your skin stays hydrated throughout the day. Let's explore the best times to moisturize and how frequency plays a crucial role in maintaining optimal hydration.
One of the key moments to apply moisturizer is right after cleansing and toning your face. Cleansing removes impurities, while toning helps balance the skin's pH level and prepares it for better absorption of subsequent products. Moisturizer works at this stage to allow the skin to seal in the moisture, providing a protective barrier against moisture loss and external aggressors.
It's recommended to moisturize your entire face both in the morning and evening for optimal hydration. In the morning, moisturizing helps replenish the moisture lost overnight and primes your skin for the day ahead. In the evening, moisturizing cream aids in restoring and repairing the skin as you sleep, allowing it to recover from daily environmental stressors and promote cell regeneration.
When choosing a moisturizer, it's important to pay attention to the ingredients it contains. Certain key ingredients offer exceptional benefits and can significantly enhance the moisturizing and nourishing properties of the product. Here are some essential ingredients to look for in a moisturizer, including argan oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, shea butter, and an intriguing option: beef tallow.
Argan oil is derived from the kernels of the argan tree and is renowned for its hydrating and rejuvenating properties. Packed with essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamin E, argan oil deeply moisturizes the skin, helping to restore its natural elasticity and suppleness. A few drops also help to combat signs of aging, reduce inflammation, and protect the skin from environmental damage.
Coconut oil is a versatile and nourishing ingredient that has been used for centuries in skin care. Rich in fatty acids, coconut oil forms a protective barrier on the skin, preventing moisture loss and maintaining hydration. It has natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial for acne-prone or sensitive skin. Coconut oil also imparts a smooth, soft texture to the skin.
Jojoba oil is a lightweight and non-greasy oil that closely resembles the skin's natural sebum. It is easily absorbed, making it suitable for all skin types, including oily and acne-prone skin. Jojoba oil helps to regulate sebum production, balance the skin's moisture levels, and soothe dry or irritated skin. It also provides antioxidant protection, promotes a healthy, youthful complexion, and can be found in nourishing facial oils.
Shea butter is a deeply moisturizing ingredient extracted from the nuts of the shea tree. It is rich in vitamins, fatty acids, and antioxidants that nourish and protect the skin. Shea butter seals in moisture, repairs the skin's natural barrier, and helps soothe dry or sensitive skin conditions such as eczema. Its emollient properties make it an excellent choice for promoting smooth, supple skin.
Beef tallow, derived from rendered beef fat, may seem unconventional but has gained attention for its potential benefits in skincare. It is rich in fatty acids, including oleic acid and stearic acid, which help moisturize and soften the skin. Beef tallow is deeply nourishing and can provide long-lasting hydration. It contains vitamins A, D, E, and K, which contribute to the skin's health and vitality and can even help repair damaged skin. It's nature's best kept secret for hydrated skin!
The popularity of natural and organic skincare products has been on the rise, as people seek out ingredients that are gentle, effective, and sustainable. Many individuals are opting for products free from harsh chemicals, fragrances, and synthetic additives. Natural and organic moisturizers often incorporate ingredients like the ones mentioned above, harnessing their beneficial properties to promote healthy and radiant skin.
In this blog, we have explored the art of moisturizing your face and uncovered expert tips, guidelines, and ingredients to look for in a moisturizer.
Moisturizing is of paramount importance when it comes to maintaining healthy skin. By replenishing moisture levels, moisturizers help prevent dryness, nourish the skin, and promote a supple and youthful appearance. Remember to choose a moisturizer that suits your specific skin type and addresses your unique needs.
Determining how much moisturizer to use can be a personal journey. While general guidelines exist, factors such as your skin type, climate, and product consistency will influence the ideal amount for you. Start with a pea sized amount and adjust as needed to find the perfect balance for your skin. Avoid excessive use, as it can clog pores and lead to unwanted breakouts.
When it comes to ingredients, look for moisturizers that contain beneficial components like argan oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, shea butter, and consider exploring the unique benefits of beef tallow skincare products. These ingredients provide deep hydration, nourishment, and protection for your skin, promoting a healthy and vibrant complexion.
So, take charge of your skincare journey and embrace the power of moisturization. Customize your routine, choose the right products, and show your skin the love and care it deserves. Your skin will thank you by looking and feeling its best, boosting your confidence and allowing your natural beauty to shine through.

Tallow, often referred to as "liquid gold," is a remarkable ingredient derived from animal fats. This creamy and luscious substance has been cherished in culinary traditions across cultures for centuries.
To fully appreciate the wonders of beef tallow, let's delve into its composition and explore the advantages it offers in both cooking and skincare.
At its core, beef tallow is composed of predominantly saturated fats, which give it a solid consistency at room temperature. These fats are responsible for the unique qualities that make beef tallow a culinary powerhouse.
Unlike other fats, beef tallow boasts a high smoke point, typically around 400°F (204°C). This means that when heated, it can withstand high temperatures without breaking down or producing harmful smoke. The high smoke point makes beef tallow an ideal choice for frying, roasting, and sautéing, allowing you to achieve that perfect crispy and golden texture in your dishes.
But the advantages of beef tallow in cooking go beyond its high smoke point. It possesses a rich and distinct flavor that adds depth and complexity to any recipe.
When used in dishes like roasted vegetables, homemade French fries, or seared meats, beef tallow imparts a savory and mouthwatering taste that is hard to replicate with other cooking fats. In addition, its ability to enhance the natural flavors of ingredients makes it a secret weapon for culinary enthusiasts and professional chefs alike.
Beyond the kitchen, beef tallow also holds remarkable skincare benefits. Its unique composition makes it an excellent moisturizer with nourishing properties. When applied to the skin, beef tallow forms a protective barrier that helps lock in moisture, keeping the skin hydrated and supple. This natural emollient can help alleviate dryness and provide relief to parched skin, leaving it feeling smooth and rejuvenated.
In addition to its moisturizing abilities, beef tallow has gained popularity in the world of homemade beauty products. Many DIY skincare enthusiasts incorporate beef tallow into their recipes, creating luxurious creams, balms, and lotions. The rich fatty acids in beef tallow can help soothe irritated skin, promote a youthful complexion, and even improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks.
As we embark on learning how to make beef tallow at home, it's essential to understand its composition and the advantages it brings to our everyday lives. So, let's proceed to the next steps and unlock the full potential of this extraordinary substance.
When it comes to learning how to make beef tallow at home, selecting high-quality beef fat is of utmost importance. The quality of the fat directly impacts the flavor and overall quality of the rendered tallow.
First and foremost, opt for fresh beef fat of the highest quality. Consider using suet, the hard fat found around the animal's kidneys and loins, which is ideal for rendering tallow due to its high-fat content. Marrow bones, which contain a rich and flavorful inner core of fat, can also be used to obtain excellent results.
Additionally, consider sourcing grass-fed or organic beef fat for rendering tallow. Grass-fed beef fat comes from animals that have grazed on natural pastures, resulting in higher nutritional value and distinct flavors. Organic beef fat ensures that the animals were raised without antibiotics, hormones, or genetically modified feed. And, don't forget, support your local butcher!
Rendering beef tallow is a process that involves melting the beef fat to separate it from any impurities. There are two main methods:
Dry tallow rendering involves processing the fat at a relatively low temperature without the addition of water. The fat is heated gradually to melt it down and separate it from the connective tissues, proteins, and impurities.
As the fat melts, it releases its liquid component, known as tallow, and leaves behind solid residue, such as cracklings or greaves. The process is conducted using low heat to prevent the fat from burning and to ensure the preservation of the tallow's quality.
In wet tallow rendering, water is added to the fat during the rendering process. The fat is typically cooked in water, allowing the fat to separate and rise to the top while impurities sink to the bottom. The mixture is then cooled, and the solidified tallow is skimmed off the surface. Wet rendering is often used when the fat contains a higher proportion of connective tissues or when a more thorough separation of impurities is desired.
The choice between dry tallow rendering and wet tallow rendering depends on various factors, such as the desired end product, the quality of the starting fat, and personal preference. Dry rendering tends to produce a more concentrated and purer form of tallow, while wet rendering may be preferred when the fat is of lower quality or when the separation of impurities is crucial.
There are two popular processes to make rendered beef fat: stovetop and slow cooker. Let's explore both approaches and provide a detailed guide for each:
Equipment: You'll need a heavy-bottomed large pot or Dutch oven, a sharp knife, and a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
Cut the beef fat trimmings into small, uniform pieces and place them in the pot.
Set the heat to low or medium-low and allow the fat to gradually melt. It's crucial to heat the fat slowly to prevent scorching and maintain the quality of the tallow.
Stir occasionally to ensure even heating and prevent any sticking or burning.
As the fat melts, it will release a liquid called tallow and solids known as cracklings. Continue heating until the fat has completely melted and the cracklings turn golden brown and crispy.
Carefully strain the liquid tallow from the large pot through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove any remaining solids or impurities.
Transfer the strained tallow into storage containers, such as glass jars or heat-resistant containers, and allow it to cool and solidify.
Equipment: You'll need a slow cooker, a sharp knife, and a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
Cut the beef fat trimmings into small, uniform pieces and place them in the slow cooker.
Set the slow cooker to very low heat and cover with the lid.
Allow the fat to slowly melt and render over several hours, typically 6 to 8 hours. The low and slow heating helps maintain the quality of the tallow and prevents scorching.
Occasionally stir the hot fat to ensure even melting and prevent any sticking.
Once the fat has completely melted, strain the liquid tallow through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove any solids or impurities.
Transfer the strained tallow into storage containers and let it cool and solidify.
Regardless of the chosen method to render beef tallow, monitoring the rendering process carefully is essential. Stirring occasionally helps distribute the heat evenly, while skimming off any impurities or foam that may rise to the surface maintains the purity of the rendered fat. Remember to keep the heat low and slow to prevent scorching and maintain the highest quality tallow.

You know, those pesky pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads that can pop up at the most inconvenient times.
Managing acne can be quite frustrating, and that's why many individuals turn to different treatments and remedies in hopes of finding a solution. One such remedy that has been gaining popularity recently is Vitamin C - yes, the same nutrient that's in your morning orange juice!
Vitamin C is not just any nutrient, though. It's an essential one that plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health and wellbeing, and it also happens to be a powerful antioxidant that can protect your skin from free radical damage.
So, what's the deal? Can Vitamin C actually help alleviate acne symptoms? Well, that's precisely what we'll be exploring in this article!
We'll dive into the properties of Vitamin C, its effects on the body, and the research available to gain a better understanding of how it can impact acne. Let's go!
Are you a fan of oranges, strawberries, broccoli, or spinach? Well, you're in luck because all of these yummy foods are excellent sources of Vitamin C!
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, which means it's not stored in the body and needs to be consumed regularly. But don't worry, incorporating Vitamin C into your diet can be easy and delicious!
Now, let's talk about why Vitamin C is so crucial for our bodies. One of its primary roles is to act as a potent antioxidant, protecting our cells from pesky molecules called free radicals that can cause damage.
But that's not all - Vitamin C also plays a vital role in the production of collagen, which helps keep our skin, bones, and cartilage healthy.
And speaking of skin, Vitamin C has some fantastic benefits for our complexion!
It can help reduce inflammation, improve skin texture, and even diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Plus, it's known to brighten and even out skin tone, which is why it's a popular ingredient in many skincare products.
So, let's raise a glass of OJ or add some spinach to our next meal to get our daily dose of Vitamin C!
Oh, acne! The pesky skin condition that seems to plague us all at some point. Whether it's due to genetics, hormones, stress, or even that delicious chocolate cake you couldn't resist, acne can be a real pain.
But fear not, there are ways to prevent breakouts and keep your skin looking its best.
Establishing a regular skincare routine that includes cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing is key. And don't forget to steer clear of known triggers like sugary foods or dairy products.
Now, you may be wondering, what can Vitamin C do for my acne?
While it won't magically cure your acne overnight, incorporating Vitamin C into your skincare routine can definitely help.
Vitamin C is like a superhero for your skin, with antioxidant properties that protect it from damage and reduce inflammation. It can also help with hormonal imbalance!
Plus, studies have shown that it can help reduce the appearance of acne scars and improve hyperpigmentation and post-inflammatory scars.
So, why not give it a try? Adding some Vitamin C to your skincare routine could be just what you need to banish those pesky acne scars and get glowing skin.
Are you ready to add some Vitamin C to your skincare routine? While the research on its effectiveness for treating acne is still developing, some studies have shown promising results.
One study found that using a topical application of Vitamin C can help reduce the number of acne lesions. Another study revealed that individuals who supplemented with Vitamin C had a decrease in the severity of their acne symptoms.
However, it's essential to note that more research is necessary to fully understand Vitamin C's potential in treating acne. As with any skincare routine, it's crucial to take a comprehensive approach to address the underlying causes of acne.
While Vitamin C can help improve skin health, it should not be used as a standalone treatment to treat acne.
So, go ahead and add some oranges, strawberries, or other Vitamin C-rich foods to your diet, and consider incorporating a Vitamin C serum or moisturizer into your skincare routine. Your skin (and taste buds) will thank you!
Are you ready to add Vitamin C to your acne-fighting arsenal? Before you start, there are a few things to consider!
First and foremost, talk to your healthcare provider about the appropriate dosage and frequency and to understand risk factors. While some studies suggest a range of 500 to 1000 mg per day, everyone's body is different, and it's important to ensure safe and appropriate use.
When it comes to skincare, Vitamin C can work wonders when combined with other antioxidants like Vitamin E. However, beware of combining it with highly acidic or alkaline ingredients, as this can diminish its effectiveness and lead to irritation.
So, while pairing it with retinoids might sound like a great idea, it's best to avoid it!
Lastly, don't forget to do a patch test before using any new Vitamin C products, especially if you have sensitive skin.
And, while it might be tempting to use more to get faster results, overdoing it can lead to negative side effects like an upset stomach and diarrhea.
Follow the recommended dosages and frequency, and you'll be on your way to clearer, brighter, and healthier skin in no time!
Are you ready to boost your skin health with some delicious and effective Vitamin C sources? Look no further!
There are plenty of options to choose from to incorporate this nutrient into your diet and skincare routine.
Fruits and veggies, such as juicy oranges, tangy lemons, and sweet strawberries, are not only tasty but also packed with Vitamin C. And don't forget about leafy greens like spinach and kale, which offer not only this nutrient but also other essential vitamins and minerals for healthy skin.
But if you're not a fan of eating your Vitamin C or need an extra boost, supplements and fortified foods as a form of vitamin C are also available. Just remember to consult with your doctor before starting any new supplements, as too much Vitamin C can lead to some not-so-fun side effects.
Make sure to look for stable forms of Vitamin C, such as ascorbyl palmitate or ascorbic acid, to ensure maximum effectiveness. So go ahead, get your daily dose of Vitamin C, and let your skin glow!
Get ready to say goodbye to harsh cleansers and hello to oil cleansing! This skincare technique is not only effective but also fun and easy to incorporate into your routine.
Using natural oils like jojoba or organic coconut oil, you can gently remove dirt, makeup, and impurities from your skin without stripping away its natural oils.
But wait, there's more! Oil cleansing can actually help reduce acne breakouts by balancing your skin's oils and preventing clogged pores. That's right, using oil on acne-prone skin can actually be beneficial. By leaving your skin's natural oils intact, oil cleansing helps regulate oil production and keeps your pores clean and clear.
Think of removing your makeup before bed as a way to say "peace out" to potential acne breakouts! Leaving makeup on while you catch some Z's can lead to clogged pores and bacterial growth, which can cause even more acne.
But fear not, because the solution is simple: just make sure to remove your makeup before hitting the hay!
By removing your makeup before bed, you're giving your skin a chance to breathe and rejuvenate overnight. This can help reduce the risk of clogged pores and acne breakouts, especially for those with acne-prone skin. Plus, it's an easy and effective way to prevent further inflammation and irritation.
To get the most out of your makeup-removing routine, use a gentle, non-comedogenic makeup remover that won't clog your pores. And remember, don't be too rough with your skin!
Avoid harsh scrubbing or rubbing, and follow up with a gentle cleanser to make sure all makeup residue is removed from your skin.
With this simple step in your skincare routine, you'll be on your way to clear and radiant skin in no time!
Another natural remedy for acne-prone skin is a natural toner made with witch hazel and apple cider vinegar.
Witch hazel is a natural astringent that can help to tighten and tone the skin, while apple cider vinegar has antibacterial properties that can help to fight off acne-causing bacteria.
Using a natural toner like this can help alleviate oily skin and impurities, while also providing antibacterial and astringent benefits for skin tissue. Additionally, these toners can help reduce acne related inflammation.
It can be used as part of your daily skincare routine or as a spot treatment for acne-prone areas. As with any new skincare product, it's important to do a patch test before use to ensure that it doesn't cause irritation or allergic reactions.
Vitamin C is a superhero nutrient that can help prevent acne, reduce acne scars, fight the signs of aging, and even improve skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
As an antioxidant, Vitamin C can save the day by protecting your skin from the harmful effects of free radicals, which can lead to wrinkles and fine lines. Plus, with its ability to stimulate collagen production, it's like having a sidekick that keeps your skin firm and elastic.
But wait, there's more! Vitamin C also has the power to lighten and brighten your skin.
With its ability to inhibit melanin production, you can say goodbye to dark spots and hyperpigmentation, and hello to a more radiant and even-toned complexion.
And if you thought that was all Vitamin C could do, think again! Studies have shown that it has potential benefits in reducing inflammation and improving overall skin health for individuals with eczema and psoriasis.
In a nutshell, Vitamin C is a superstar nutrient when it comes to promoting skin health, and it may be particularly useful in preventing and treating acne.
Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties make it a powerful weapon against free radicals and inflammation, which can contribute to acne development. Plus, it has a host of other benefits for skin health, from fighting signs of aging to brightening the complexion.
So, if you're looking to boost your skin health, increase collagen production, and tackle acne, incorporating Vitamin C into your routine could be a game-changer. Just be sure to choose stable forms of Vitamin C in your skincare products and consult with a healthcare provider before taking any new supplements.
With these tips in mind, you'll be on your way to healthy, glowing skin in no time!
]]>Are you curious about the history of deodorants? Have you ever wondered how people managed body odor before modern-day deodorants existed? Who invented deodorant?
Well, get ready to dive into the fascinating world of deodorants!
From ancient times to the late 19th century, people have been exploring ways to combat body odor. And now, deodorants have become an essential part of personal hygiene in modern society.
In this article, we will take a fun and informative journey through the evolution of deodorants, from their early origins to the latest formulations. We will also explore the importance of personal hygiene in modern society and how deodorants play a critical role in maintaining it.
So, let's roll up our sleeves and dive into the science behind deodorants, their benefits and risks, and what the future holds for this essential personal care product.
Personal hygiene may not be the most glamorous topic, but it's been an important part of human society since ancient times. Can you imagine sharing a bathhouse with your neighbors?
In many cultures, communal bathhouses were the norm, and regular bathing was seen as a social activity. However, things weren't always so rosy when it came to cleanliness.
During the medieval period, people believed that bathing could lead to illness, so they turned to perfumes and other scented oils and powders to mask body odor instead. Talk about a smelly situation!
Thankfully, as time went on, attitudes towards personal hygiene began to shift. During the Renaissance period, the wealthy started taking regular baths as a luxury, and soon enough, even the peasants began to see the value in bathing.
The 19th century saw even more significant changes in personal hygiene practices due to the Industrial Revolution. Soap and water became widely available, and people began using them to maintain cleanliness and good health. Finally, we were getting somewhere!
Fast forward to the early 20th century, and personal hygiene became even more important as awareness of germ theory increased. People began using antiseptics and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease, and the concept of cleanliness became closely linked with good health.
Today, personal hygiene remains a crucial aspect of daily life, with practices such as hand washing, teeth brushing, and the use of deodorants and antiperspirants seen as essential for maintaining cleanliness and good health.
So, the next time you're lathering up in the shower or swiping on deodorant, remember that you're part of a long history of personal hygiene practices that have evolved over time.
Deodorant is a pretty big deal these days, but did you know that people have been trying to combat body odor for thousands of years? The ancient Egyptians used spices and oils as the first deodorant, while the Greeks and Romans applied fragrant oils to their bodies to fight the funk.
However, it wasn't until the late 19th century that the first commercially available deodorants hit the market. These early products, like Mum and Everdry, contained aluminum chloride, which helped to control sweating and odor. Unfortunately, they also had a tendency to irritate the skin and stain clothing.
Thankfully, deodorants have come a long way since those early days. In the 1940s, aerosol deodorants were introduced, making it easier to apply deodorant quickly and effectively. And in the 1950s, the first antiperspirant deodorant was introduced, containing aluminum zirconium compounds to reduce sweating.
Today, deodorants are available in all sorts of forms, from spritz to creams to sticks, and contain a range of active ingredients designed to control odor and reduce sweating. While the early days of deodorant may have been a bit bumpy, modern formulations have made it easier than ever to stay fresh and clean.
The rise of modern deodorant is a fascinating tale of advertising, science, and competition. Back in the mid-20th century, companies like Gillette and Procter & Gamble started advertising deodorants as a crucial part of personal hygiene.
They convinced consumers that body odor was a major social faux pas and that deodorants were essential for avoiding embarrassment and maintaining social status. With catchy slogans and savvy marketing campaigns, they turned deodorant into a must-have product.
But advertising alone couldn't have made deodorant the billion-dollar industry it is today. Technological advancements and improvements in deodorant formulations have also played a major role.
As scientists learned more about sweat and odor, companies developed more effective formulations that combined antiperspirant and antibacterial ingredients. These new formulations offered longer-lasting protection against sweat and odor while reducing the risk of skin irritation and staining.
Today, the deodorant industry is a highly competitive market, constantly evolving to meet the needs and preferences of consumers. From natural and organic formulations to gender-specific scents and packaging, deodorant companies are always looking for new ways to stand out in a crowded market.
With the US deodorant market projected to reach $3.7 billion by 2025, it's clear that the rise of modern deodorant is far from over.
Sweat happens. And so does body odor, thanks to the bacteria that live on our skin. But fear not, because deodorants are here to save the day.
But how do they work, exactly? Let's dive into the science of sweat and body odor.
Contrary to popular belief, sweat itself is odorless. It's the odor producing bacteria that break down the sweat and produce the funky smell we know and dislike. Deodorants work in different ways to combat body odor and create a pleasing scent.
Some use fragrances to mask the smell, while others contain antibacterial agents like apple cider vinegar that kill the bacteria responsible for the odor.
Antiperspirants, on the other hand, use aluminum-based compounds to block sweat glands and reduce the amount of sweat produced, thus reducing the potential for odor-causing bacteria to thrive.
While deodorants have become a necessary part of many people's daily routines, there are potential risks to consider. Studies have suggested a possible link between aluminum-based antiperspirants and an increased risk of breast cancer, but more research is needed to draw a definitive conclusion.
Additionally, some individuals may experience skin irritation to sensitive skin or allergic reactions to the active ingredients in deodorants. But let's not forget the benefits of using deodorants, such as preventing social embarrassment caused by body odor and improving overall hygiene and self-confidence.
With ongoing research and development, the science behind deodorants continues to evolve, so you can smell fresh all day long.
Are you tired of using deodorants that leave stains and irritate your skin? Well, the future of deodorant is looking bright!
The industry is constantly adapting to new trends, with a growing interest in natural and organic formulations. Instead of harsh chemicals, these deodorants are made with natural ingredients, such as essential oils and organic coconut oil, to provide a more gentle and effective solution.
But that's not all - advancements in technology are also shaping the future of deodorants. Nanotechnology is emerging as a promising solution, with the development of deodorant sprays that use nanoparticles to target and kill odor-causing bacteria without excessive irritation. This provides longer-lasting protection against body odor, without the need for harsh chemicals.
Sustainability is another important consideration for the deodorant industry. Many companies are exploring ways to reduce their environmental impact, from using more sustainable packaging materials to developing refillable deodorant containers. These efforts are helping to reduce plastic waste and promote a more eco-friendly approach to personal care.
For example, FATCO is leading the deodorant revolution with its use of grass-fed beef tallow and commitment to nose-to-tail practices. ]]>Welcome to the world of skincare, where dry skin is the ultimate nemesis!
With millions of people worldwide struggling to keep their skin hydrated, dry skin has become a common issue that can be caused by a variety of factors - genetics, environment, and lifestyle.
And let's not forget the discomfort, itchiness, flaking, and peeling that can come along with it - yikes!
But fret not! Proper moisturization is the key to prevent dryness and keep your skin healthy. Moisturizing is a process of applying a product that hydrates and protects your skin from external factors.
It's a vital part of any skincare routine, regardless of your skin type. Moisturizers are designed to lock in moisture and keep your skin hydrated throughout the day.
However, have you ever applied moisturizer to your skin and felt even drier than before? The paradox of dry skin after moisturizing can be a frustrating experience for many of us.
In this article, we'll dive into the five reasons why you may experience dry skin after moisturizing and how to fix it. So, sit back, relax, and let's explore the world of skincare together!
Moisturizers are a lifesaver for our skin, but did you know that not all moisturizers are created equal?
It's not just about slapping on any lotion or cream and calling it a day. Here's what you need to know about moisturizers:
The ingredients in your moisturizer matter. Some moisturizers may contain ingredients that work great for some skin types but not for others. For instance, if you have oily skin, you may want to opt for a moisturizer that contains salicylic acid or glycolic acid to help regulate your skin's oil production.
Conversely, if you have normal-to-dry skin, you may want to look for a moisturizer with beef tallow, which helps your skin retain moisture.
By understanding what your skin needs, you can choose a moisturizer with ingredients that work best for you.
Some moisturizers are thick and heavy, while others are light and absorb quickly. Choosing the right texture can make all the difference.
If you have oily skin, you may want to use a lighter, water-based moisturizer that won't clog your pores.
On the other hand, if you have dry skin, you may benefit from a heavier, cream-based moisturizer that provides long-lasting hydration.
It's all about finding the perfect balance that works for your skin type.
You may be wondering, "Why is my skin so dry, even when I moisturize?" Using the wrong moisturizer for your skin type can actually make your skin drier.
For example, if you have oily skin and use a heavy cream-based moisturizer, it can leave your skin feeling greasy and clogged, leading to breakouts.
Similarly, if you have dry skin and use a lightweight, water-based moisturizer, it may not provide enough hydration, leaving your skin feeling tight and uncomfortable.
It's crucial to choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type to avoid exacerbating skin dryness.
In short, choosing the right moisturizer can make all the difference in keeping your skin hydrated and healthy and avoiding dehydrated skin.
Are you tired of applying moisturizer to your skin only to feel like it's still dry and flaky? Well, before you blame the moisturizer, consider the impact of your environment!
That's right, the environment you're in can have a significant impact on your skin's hydration levels. Let's explore some of the factors you should consider:
Humidity is more than just a weather report term. It plays a big role in how our skin looks and feels.
When humidity is high, the air is moist, and our skin is better able to retain moisture. On the other hand, when humidity is low, the air is dry, and our skin can become dehydrated, leading to dryness and flakiness.
So, if you live in a dry climate or during the winter months, you may want to consider investing in a humidifier to keep the air moist and your skin hydrated.
Whether you're in a cold, air-conditioned office or a warm, heated room, the air temperature can affect your skin's hydration levels.
Air conditioning and heating can dry out the air, leading to moisture loss in your skin.
So, instead of cranking up the air conditioning or heating, try to keep the temperature at a comfortable level and use a moisturizer with humectant ingredients like organic coconut oil to draw moisture back into your skin.
Mother nature can be tough on our skin. Extreme weather conditions can impact your skin's hydration levels.
For example, cold winds and low temperatures can lead to dryness and chapping, while hot and humid weather can cause sweating, leading to moisture loss.
To protect your skin, wear appropriate clothing and use a moisturizer with SPF during sunny weather.
Don't underestimate the power of your environment when it comes to your skin's hydration levels.
By understanding the impact of humidity, air conditioning, heating, and cold weather conditions on your skin, you can take steps to protect and hydrate your skin, reducing the risk of dryness even after moisturizing.
Get ready to scrub away all those dead skin cells! Exfoliation is a fantastic way to maintain healthy skin by keeping your pores unclogged, preventing breakouts, and promoting healthy skin cell turnover. However, as with most things in life, too much of a good thing can be detrimental.
Over-exfoliating can wreak havoc on your skin, stripping away its natural oils and damaging its moisture barrier, resulting in tightness, itchiness, and even flakiness. So, how can you strike a balance and avoid this common skincare pitfall?
Firstly, it's important to determine your skin type and find the right exfoliant to suit your needs. For those with dry or sensitive skin, gentle exfoliants like alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) are recommended. These types of exfoliants help dissolve dead skin cells without causing irritation and should only be used once or twice a week.
If you have oily or acne-prone skin, you may benefit from more frequent exfoliation, but it's essential to use gentle exfoliants and avoid scrubbing too hard, as this can cause micro-tears in the skin, leading to further irritation.
So, the key takeaway here is to find the right balance for your skin type and avoid over-exfoliation to prevent dryness and irritation. Trust us, your skin will thank you!
Let's talk about skin types and moisturizing techniques. You might be wondering, "Why do I need to know my skin type?" Well, understanding your skin type is essential in finding the right moisturizing routine to keep your skin healthy and happy. So, let's dive into what you need to know:
Each skin type has its own unique needs when it comes to hydration.
Normal skin is lucky and doesn't require much moisturizing, while oily skin needs a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer that won't make it feel like an oil slick.
Dry skin requires a more hydrating, emollient moisturizer, and combination skin needs a balance of lightweight and hydrating ingredients.
Pay attention to how your skin feels throughout the day. If your skin feels tight and dry, you probably have dry skin. If you notice excess oil or shine, you may have oily skin.
If you experience both dryness and oiliness in different areas of your face, you may have combination skin. And, if your skin feels well-balanced, you likely have normal skin.
If you have oily skin, look for lightweight moisturizers that won't clog pores. For dry skin, reach for emollient-rich moisturizers with ingredients like organic coconut oil and beef tallow to hydrate and plump up your skin.
Combination skin may benefit from using different moisturizers in different areas of the face, like a lightweight one for the T-zone and a richer one for the cheeks.
And, for all skin types, using a hydrating serum or facial oil before your moisturizer can help lock in moisture and give your skin an extra boost.
Are you ready to have glowing, healthy skin? Then let's talk about the importance of a consistent skincare routine!
When you establish a regular routine, you're taking the first step towards achieving your best skin yet.
By addressing specific concerns and preventing future issues, you can maintain and improve your overall skin health. So let's dive into how to establish a good skincare routine.
First, identify your skin type and specific concerns. This will help you choose products that are tailored to your needs.
You'll want to include a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen in your routine, and consider incorporating additional products such as serums, masks, or exfoliants to address specific concerns.
But it's not just about the products you use. The way you use them is just as important! To optimize your skincare routine, be gentle when cleansing and avoid using hot water, as this can strip the skin of its natural oils.
Layer your products in order of thickness, starting with the thinnest product and ending with the thickest, to allow each product to be absorbed properly.
And most importantly, be consistent with your routine, and give your skin time to adjust to new products or changes in your routine.
So there you have it! With time and dedication, a good skincare routine can make a significant difference in the health and appearance of your skin. Get ready to say hello to your best skin yet!
Congratulations, you're now well-versed in the world of skincare! By following these key points, you'll be on your way to achieving the healthy, radiant skin you've always dreamed of.
Don't forget to experiment and find what works best for you, as everyone's skin is unique and may require different techniques or products.
Whether you have dry, oily, or combination skin, hydration is crucial, and exfoliation should be approached with balance and care.
So go ahead, pamper yourself with a consistent skincare routine that is tailored to your specific needs, and enjoy the benefits of healthy, moisturized skin. You deserve it!
]]>Our skin is not only the largest organ in our body but also the first line of defense against the outside world. It protects us from harmful sun rays, pollutants, and other environmental stressors while regulating our body temperature.
But did you know that healthy skin is not just important for our physical health, but also for our self-confidence and overall well-being? When our skin looks good, we feel good, and we are more comfortable in our own skin.
That's why in this article, we are going to explore the top 5 signs of healthy skin. By understanding what constitutes healthy skin for different skin types, you'll be able to assess the condition of your skin and take the necessary steps to improve it.
From a clear complexion to smooth texture, even skin tone, hydration, and elasticity, we will cover everything you need to know to say goodbye to unhealthy skin.
By the end of this article, you will have a better understanding of what your skin needs to look and feel its best. So, get ready to say goodbye to dull, lifeless skin, and hello to a radiant, healthy glow. Let's dive in!
A clear complexion is like the holy grail of skincare; it means having good skin, that's free from pesky blemishes, acne, and other imperfections. It's the ultimate confidence booster that can make you look and feel younger and more vibrant.
But let's be real, achieving and maintaining a clear complexion can be a real challenge. Hormonal changes, genetics, diet, stress, environmental factors, and even using the wrong skincare products can all play a role in skin blemishes and breakouts. And who wants to deal with that?
One of the most common causes of skin blemishes and breakouts is hormonal changes. But, you don't have to suffer from acne just because you're going through puberty, menopause, or even pregnancy. Hormonal changes can trigger an increase in oil production, which can clog pores and lead to acne.
Genetics can also play a role in the appearance of skin blemishes and breakouts. If your family has a history of acne-prone skin, then you may be more likely to develop it too. Thanks, genetics!
But don't despair, my friend! There are things you can do to achieve that clear complexion you've always dreamed of.
Exfoliating once or twice a week can help to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, improving the appearance of your skin. Adding a natural toner made with apple cider vinegar and witch hazel to your routine can help balance your skin's pH levels and reduce oil production, helping to prevent breakouts.
Moisturizing your skin is also crucial for achieving a clear complexion. It keeps your skin hydrated and prevents excess oil production that can cause breakouts. Don't forget to protect your skin from UV damage with sunscreen, as this can also contribute to skin blemishes and breakouts.
In addition to these tips, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can also help. Eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, and getting enough sleep can all make a difference in the appearance of your skin. With consistent effort and the right approach to skin care, you can achieve a clear complexion and maintain healthy skin that you'll be proud to show off.
Smooth skin texture is like the cherry on top of a sundae - it's the finishing touch that makes everything look even better. When your skin feels smooth and soft, it can give you a confidence boost that radiates from within. But achieving this flawless texture is not always a walk in the park. With factors like dehydration, sun damage, genetics, and aging working against us, it can feel like an uphill battle to achieve that perfect texture.
But don't fret! There are plenty of ways to work towards smoother skin. For starters, keeping your skin hydrated is key. Drinking two to three liters of water per day and using a good moisturizer can help prevent dryness and flakiness that can cause rough and dry skin. Exfoliating once or twice a week can also help remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover, revealing the smoother, brighter skin underneath.
Antioxidants are also your friend when it comes to achieving smooth skin texture. Products containing vitamin C can help protect your skin from free radical damage and promote collagen production, which is essential for keeping your skin supple and smooth.
And of course, let's not forget about the importance of sun protection. Wearing sunscreen and limiting your sun exposure can help prevent the breakdown of collagen and elastin, which can cause your skin to appear rough and uneven.
In the end, achieving smooth skin texture may require a little extra effort, but the payoff is worth it. With these tips in mind, you can work towards that silky smooth skin you've been dreaming of, and feel more confident in your own skin.
Who doesn't want skin that looks bright and youthful? One of the keys to achieving that is having an even skin tone, which means no dark spots, redness, or splotches. But let's be honest, it can be difficult to achieve, especially if you're prone to skin discoloration.
So, what causes an uneven skin tone? Well, one of the biggest culprits is good old-fashioned sun exposure. Those harmful UV rays can lead to dark spots and hyperpigmentation, which can be a real bummer. Hormonal changes during pregnancy or menopause can also mess with your skin and cause discoloration.
But don't worry; there are plenty of things you can do to achieve that even skin tone you've been dreaming of! First things first, protect yourself from the sun by slathering on some sunscreen and avoiding prolonged exposure. Trust us, your skin will thank you.
Next, consider incorporating products with ingredients like vitamin C or niacinamide into your skincare routine. These can help brighten up your skin and reduce the appearance of discoloration. And if you've got some stubborn dark spots that just won't budge, chemical peels or laser treatments may be just the ticket.
Lastly, don't forget to chat with a dermatologist if you think an underlying medical condition may be contributing to your uneven skin tone. Together, you can come up with a plan to get your skin looking its best.
Are you tired of dealing with dry, flaky skin that feels tight and itchy? Well, it's time to give your skin the hydration it deserves! When your skin is properly hydrated, it looks and feels amazing. Not only does it have a plump and radiant appearance, but it also helps to reduce the appearance of pesky fine lines and wrinkles.
So, how can you keep your skin hydrated? It all starts from within! Make sure you're drinking plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. But don't stop there! You can also use a good moisturizer to lock in that moisture and prevent dehydration. Just make sure you're choosing the right kind of moisturizer. Look for products that contain natural ingredients like beef tallow, which help to attract and retain moisture in your skin.
If you really want to go the extra mile, try incorporating a hydrating serum or facial oil into your skincare routine. These products contain ingredients like essential oils and jojoba oil that can help to improve your skin's barrier function and prevent moisture loss.
But hydration isn't just about what you put on your skin. Your environment and lifestyle habits can also impact your skin's hydration levels. So, be mindful of spending too much time in air-conditioned or heated environments, which can be particularly drying to your skin. And try to limit your intake of caffeine and alcohol, as they can contribute to dehydration and unhealthy skin.
Have you ever noticed how a baby's skin seems to bounce back immediately after being pinched or pulled? That's because their skin has fantastic elasticity, which means it's able to stretch and then snap right back into shape. As we age, however, our skin starts to lose some of that bounce, which can lead to wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin.
The good news is that there are plenty of ways to improve your skin's elasticity, even as you get older. For starters, it's important to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays, which can break down the collagen and elastin fibers that keep your skin firm and supple. So grab your sunscreen and a cute hat, and get ready to rock some sun-safe style!
Another way to boost your skin's elasticity is by incorporating antioxidant-rich ingredients into your skincare routine. Vitamin C, green tea extract, witch hazel, and other antioxidants help to fight off free radical damage and keep your skin looking fresh and youthful. Plus, they can help to stimulate collagen production, which is essential for maintaining skin elasticity.
Finally, don't forget about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Eating a balanced diet full of antioxidants, nutrients, and healthy fats can help to support healthy skin function, while regular exercise and hydration can help to promote skin elasticity. So go ahead and treat yourself to that green smoothie or yoga class – your skin will thank you!
Let's face it, we all want to have healthy skin that looks and feels amazing! But what exactly does healthy skin look like? Well, it's clear, smooth, and even-toned, with a natural glow that radiates from within. It's like a canvas that's perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of moisture and oil to keep it from being too oily or too dry.
And let's not forget about elasticity – healthy skin is resilient and able to bounce back, just like a rubber band! It's not easily damaged or prone to sagging, and it can handle a little bit of stretching without losing its shape.
But here's the thing – healthy skin isn't just about looking good. It's also about feeling good! It's free from annoying blemishes like acne and isn't overly sensitive or prone to irritation. And when your skin feels comfortable, you feel comfortable, too!
Of course, everyone's skin is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. But that's no reason to give up on your quest for healthy skin!
With a little bit of effort and some good habits, you can achieve that healthy, glowing complexion you've always wanted.

This versatile ingredient is not only delicious, but it's also packed with essential nutrients that can support overall health and well-being.
While beef tallow is an animal fat primarily composed of saturated fat, it's important to note that not all saturated fats are created equal. In fact, recent research has shown that beef tallow is rich in essential nutrients like vitamins A, D, and K, as well as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). These nutrients in healthy fats are essential for a variety of bodily functions and can have numerous health benefits
Vitamin A, for example, is essential for maintaining healthy vision, skin, and immune function. A single tablespoon of beef tallow provides approximately 15% of the recommended daily intake of this important nutrient.
Vitamin D is also vital for overall health, particularly for bone health and immune function. One tablespoon of beef tallow provides approximately 10% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin D. And vitamin K, which is essential for blood clotting and bone health, is also present in beef tallow, with one tablespoon providing approximately 10% of the recommended daily intake.
But perhaps one of the most notable nutrients found in beef tallow is conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). This healthy fat has been shown to have numerous health benefits, including reducing inflammation and improving heart health.
Beef tallow is a rich source of CLA, with one tablespoon providing approximately 0.4 grams. So not only is beef tallow delicious, but it's also packed with essential nutrients that can support overall health and well-being.
Cooking with beef tallow is an age-old tradition that has been passed down through generations. From traditional dishes to contemporary cuisine, beef tallow has been a favorite ingredient in kitchens across the world.
Not all cooking fats are created equal. When it comes to the kitchen, using beef tallow has numerous benefits that set it apart from other cooking oils and stands in the ranks of nature's portfolio of healthy fats.
One of the biggest advantages of using beef tallow for cooking is that it is a natural and unprocessed fat. Unlike many vegetable oils that go through several processes before reaching the supermarket shelves, beef tallow fat is minimally processed and does not contain harmful additives. This makes it a much healthier option for a cooking oil.
Additionally, the flavor of beef tallow is another aspect that sets it apart from other cooking oils. It has a rich, savory flavor that can enhance the taste of foods. Beef tallow is especially great for cooking meats, as it can add depth and richness to the flavor. When used in sauces or gravies, it can add a delicious umami taste that can elevate the overall dish.
Apart from flavor, beef tallow also has a unique ability to improve the texture of foods. When used in baking, it can make pastries flakier and give baked goods a more tender crumb. Its ability to enhance the texture of foods is what makes it a popular choice among bakers.
To us beef tallow as a cooking oil, it is crucial to choose high-quality products. Look for grass-fed beef tallow, which is more nutritious and has a better flavor than tallow from grain-fed cattle.
You can also render beef tallow at home by slowly cooking the beef fat until it melts down into a liquid. Once rendered, beef tallow can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer for later use.
Cooking with beef tallow is a healthy and delicious option that has numerous benefits. Its natural and unprocessed nature, high smoke point, rich flavor, and ability to improve the texture of foods make it a favorite among chefs and home cooks alike.
If you're interested in using beef tallow in your cooking, be sure to choose high-quality products and enjoy the rich and delicious flavors it can add to your dishes. Who knows, you may even learn to love it more than olive oil!
Beef tallow has been used in skincare for centuries, and for good reason. Its rich composition of essential fatty acids and vitamins make it a powerhouse ingredient that has numerous benefits for the skin. These nutrients work together to nourish and hydrate the skin while promoting healthy cell regeneration and repair
Fatty acids are essential for healthy skin, and beef tallow is rich in both saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. These fatty acids act as natural moisturizers, helping to keep the skin hydrated and supple. In addition, they also help to protect the skin from environmental stressors, such as pollution and UV radiation.
Vitamins A and D are also crucial for healthy skin. Vitamin A is essential for skin cell regeneration and repair, while vitamin D helps to improve skin texture and tone. Both vitamins work together to promote healthy skin function, and their presence in beef tallow makes it an ideal ingredient for promoting healthy skin.
Beef tallow also has natural anti-inflammatory properties that can help to soothe irritated skin and reduce redness. Inflammation is a common cause of skin irritation, and beef tallow's anti-inflammatory properties can help alleviate this issue. This makes it an excellent ingredient for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.
When used in skincare products, beef tallow can help to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as reduce the appearance of scars and blemishes.
Its rich composition of fatty acids and vitamins promotes healthy skin function, leading to a more youthful and radiant complexion.
Overall, beef tallow is a versatile and beneficial ingredient with numerous benefits for cooking and skincare.
So whether you're using it to cook a delicious meal or to nourish your skin, beef tallow is an ingredient that is definitely worth exploring.
There are many ways to use beef tallow in skincare. One popular method is to use it as a facial moisturizer. You can also use beef tallow as a body moisturizer or as a lip balm to soothe dry, chapped lips.
When using beef tallow in skincare, choosing high-quality products free from harmful additives is essential.

The versatility of beef tallow doesn't stop at cooking and skincare - this ingredient has been put to use in a variety of surprising ways.
For instance, beef tallow has been used for centuries in the production of candles. Because of its high melting point, beef tallow candles burn slowly and evenly, making them a popular choice in times past. In fact, early colonists in America often used beef tallow candles for light, and they remained a common source of illumination well into the 19th century.
But that's not all - beef tallow also has industrial applications. Its lubricating properties make it a useful ingredient in machinery, as it can help to reduce friction and wear. It has been used in everything from farm machinery to airplanes, making it an important part of modern industry.
And if you're a fan of leather goods, you may be interested to know that beef tallow can also be used to condition and preserve leather. Its moisturizing properties can help to prevent cracking and drying, while also helping to maintain the leather's natural suppleness and sheen.
So whether you're lighting a candle, lubricating a machine, or conditioning your favorite leather jacket, beef tallow is a versatile ingredient that can be put to use in a variety of surprising ways.
Beef tallow production has both positive and negative impacts on the environment. On the one hand, beef tallow is a renewable resource that can be produced sustainably.
When sourced from grass-fed cows, tallow production can contribute to the overall health of pasture-based ecosystems.
Additionally, because tallow is a byproduct of the meat industry, using it helps to reduce waste and make use of materials that would otherwise be discarded.
However, beef tallow production also has potential environmental risks. The process of rendering tallow involves heating the beef fat to a high temperature, which can release harmful pollutants into the air if not properly controlled.
To mitigate these environmental risks, sourcing beef tallow from sustainable and ethical producers is essential. This means choosing products from farms that prioritize animal welfare and environmentally responsible practices. It is also crucial to properly dispose of any waste products associated with tallow production to minimize the environmental impact.
At the core of our mission, FATCO sources fat from small, US-based farmers and ranchers who are treating animals responsibly and ethically. Many are practicing holistic land management techniques, and are actually using animals to regenerate the land and the soil!
We believe in the nose-to-tail movement, which means using every single part of the animal and not allowing any of it to go to waste.
It's clear that beef tallow is a true jack-of-all-trades ingredient that offers a range of benefits for your overall health and skincare.
With its exceptional nutritional profile and ability to add flavor and texture to your favorite dishes, beef tallow is definitely an ingredient worth exploring.
And let's not forget about its skincare benefits! When used in skincare, beef tallow can nourish and hydrate your skin, leaving it with a healthy glow.
So whether you're looking to spice up your cooking or add some oomph to your skincare routine, beef tallow is an ingredient that can deliver on both fronts.

Natural skincare is all about using ingredients that come from nature to nourish, protect, and heal your skin. Since ancient times, people have used natural ingredients like herbs, oils, and fruits to care for their skin.
In recent times, the popularity of natural skincare has grown exponentially as people have become more conscious of the potential harm that comes with using products loaded with chemicals. In addition, natural skincare provides numerous benefits, such as reducing the risk of skin irritation and allergic reactions, providing essential nutrients and vitamins, and promoting overall skin health.
However, not all natural skincare products are created equal. It's important to avoid harmful ingredients commonly found in many skincare products, even if they're marketed as "natural" or "organic."
Common harmful ingredients to avoid include parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, and phthalates. These ingredients can cause skin irritation, disrupt the natural balance of your skin, and even be linked to more severe health issues in some cases. By understanding which ingredients to avoid, you can make informed decisions when selecting skincare products and take control of your skin's health.
Another crucial aspect of natural skincare is understanding your skin type. Your skin type determines how your skin reacts to different ingredients and products.
Skin types can be broadly classified into dry, oily, combination, or sensitive. Knowing your skin type can help you select products that work best for your skin and prevent any adverse reactions.
For example, if you have dry skin, you'll want to use products that contain ingredients like shea butter or coconut oil to hydrate your skin. On the other hand, if you have oily skin, you'll want to use products that are lightweight and non-comedogenic to avoid clogging pores.
Understanding your skin type is the foundation of creating an effective natural skincare routine that works for you.
A natural skincare routine is essential to achieving healthy and glowing skin. A proper routine consists of cleansing, toning, moisturizing, exfoliating, and nourishing the skin. We suggest using gentle, hydrating products that contain beneficial ingredients to promote skin health.
Let's explore the best natural skincare routines that you can easily incorporate into your daily life.
A morning skincare routine is crucial to prepare your skin for the day ahead. First, it involves cleansing to remove any impurities that have accumulated on your skin overnight. Next, use a toner to balance your skin's pH levels and hydrate it. Finally, apply a moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated and nourished throughout the day.
A natural morning skincare routine can be as simple as using a gentle cleanser, a toner that contains natural ingredients like rose water and raw apple cider vinegar, and a moisturizer that contains natural oils like jojoba or almond oil.
The evening routine is an opportunity to repair and rejuvenate your skin after a long day. It involves cleansing to remove makeup, dirt, and excess oil. Exfoliating is also essential in the evening to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. Finally, nourish your skin with a serum or oil to provide deep hydration and essential nutrients.
An excellent natural evening skincare routine may include a gentle cleanser that contains natural ingredients like chamomile or lavender, a natural exfoliator that uses natural exfoliating agents like sugar or oatmeal, and a nourishing serum or facial oil that contains essential fatty acids like argan oil, organic coconut oil, or rosehip oil.
A weekly routine is a chance to give your skin some extra love and attention. This routine includes using masks, serums, and oils to provide a more thorough and intensive treatment. For example, a weekly natural skincare routine may consist of using a natural clay mask to deep clean and detoxify your skin, a serum that contains Vitamin C or Hyaluronic acid for brightening and hydration, and a facial oil that contains natural antioxidants like Vitamin E to protect your skin from environmental stressors.
If you're looking for something a little different from the usual natural skincare routines, why not try a non-traditional approach? In this section, we'll explore three non-traditional skincare routines you can try.
The Korean skincare routine has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its effectiveness in achieving clear, radiant, and youthful-looking skin.
The 10-step routine includes a double cleanse, toner, essence, serum, eye cream, moisturizer, and sunscreen, among others. The Korean skincare routine is all about layering products in the right order to ensure maximum absorption and effectiveness.
The benefits of this routine include improved skin texture, reduced acne, and increased hydration levels. Trying out a 10-step routine may seem daunting, so if you have the time, money, and energy, it could be worth checking out. If not, opting for a more simple approach can be just as effective!
Ayurveda is a traditional Indian healing system that emphasizes the importance of balance and harmony. The Ayurvedic skincare routine involves using natural ingredients like turmeric, sandalwood, and neem to promote skin health.
The method is tailored to each person's unique dosha, or energy type, to address any imbalances in the body. The benefits of this routine include increased radiance, improved skin texture, and reduced signs of aging.
The minimalist approach is all about simplifying your skincare routine to the essentials. This approach is perfect for those short on time or who prefer a more straightforward practice.
The minimalist routine typically involves a gentle cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen. The benefits of this routine include reduced risk of irritation, improved skin barrier function, and simplicity.
When it comes to natural skincare, there are plenty of unique ingredients that can work wonders for your skin. Let's explore five options!
Aloe vera is a succulent plant that is well-known for its soothing and hydrating properties. It is perfect for those with dry or sensitive skin as it helps to calm redness and irritation.
To incorporate aloe vera into your skincare routine, look for products with a high percentage of aloe vera or use pure aloe vera gel as a moisturizer.
Apple cider vinegar is a natural ingredient has been used for centuries for its numerous benefits, including its ability to balance the skin's pH level, exfoliate the skin, and fight acne. Plus, it's affordable and easy to use! However, it's important to use apple cider vinegar in moderation and patch test it first, as it may not be suitable for those with sensitive skin.
Incorporating apple cider vinegar into your skincare routine can be a simple and effective way to achieve healthy, glowing skin.
Looking for a natural and aromatic way to elevate your skincare routine? Consider incorporating lavender and rosemary essential oils into your regimen!
Lavender oil is known for its soothing and calming properties, making it an excellent choice for sensitive or irritated skin. It can also help to reduce inflammation and promote healing.
Rosemary oil, on the other hand, is packed with antioxidants and has antimicrobial properties, making it a powerful ingredient for fighting acne and other skin blemishes.
Together, these two essential oils can provide a range of benefits, from improving skin texture to reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Tea tree oil is a powerful essential oil that has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It can be particularly effective for those with acne-prone skin as it helps to reduce the appearance of blemishes and prevent future breakouts.
To incorporate tea tree oil into your skincare routine, look for products that contain tea tree oil or mix a few drops of tea tree oil with a carrier oil like jojoba oil.
Rosehip oil is a nourishing oil rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids. It is perfect for those with dry or mature skin as it helps to hydrate and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
To incorporate rosehip oil into your skincare routine, look for products that contain rosehip oil or use pure rosehip oil as a facial oil.
Organic coconut oil is another unique ingredient that can work wonders for your skin. It is an excellent natural moisturizer that is perfect for those with dry or dehydrated skin. It also has antibacterial properties, making it effective for those with acne-prone skin.
To incorporate organic coconut oil into your skincare routine, use it as a body moisturizer or mix it with sugar to create a natural body scrub.
Grass-fed beef tallow is a natural source of vitamins A, D, and K, making it an excellent ingredient for those with dry or mature skin. It is also rich in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which has anti-inflammatory properties.
Beef tallow is an ingredient that has been used in traditional skincare routines for centuries. It is a nutrient-rich ingredient that is becoming increasingly popular in modern skincare products.
Beef tallow is a rendered fat that is derived from beef. It is an excellent source of nourishment for the skin and has numerous benefits. When applied to the skin, it can help to soothe and heal dry and damaged skin, leaving it feeling soft and supple.
One of the reasons why beef tallow is such a beneficial ingredient in skincare is because it contains a wide range of nutrients essential for healthy skin. These include vitamins A, D, E, and K, which are all critical for maintaining healthy skin.
Additionally, beef tallow is rich in essential fatty acids, which help to nourish and hydrate the skin. These nutrients work together to help repair and protect the skin, leaving it looking and feeling healthy and radiant.
Another benefit of beef tallow is its antimicrobial properties. This means that it can kill harmful bacteria that can cause skin infections and breakouts, making it an excellent ingredient for people with acne-prone skin or those looking for a natural way to prevent breakouts. Using beef tallow in your skincare routine can help keep your skin healthy and free from harmful bacteria.
Incorporating beef tallow into your skincare routine is easy and can be done in a variety of ways. One of the simplest ways to use beef tallow is as a moisturizer. We suggest using high-quality products from trusted brands like FATCO's Myrrhaculous Face Cream. You can also use beef tallow products such as lip balms or healing balms for dry and cracked skin.
When it comes to choosing high-quality beef tallow products, it's essential to look for products that are made using tallow derived from suet coming from grass-fed, grass-finished cattle. This is because grass-fed beef is more nutrient-dense and contains higher levels of beneficial fatty acids than conventionally raised beef. Also, grass-fed cattle have much lower toxin loads!
You should also look for products free from harmful chemicals and additives, such as preservatives, fragrances, and synthetic ingredients. By choosing high-quality beef tallow products, you can ensure you get the best possible results for your skin.
Beef tallow is a unique and lesser-known ingredient in the world of natural skincare, and it is often misunderstood. One common misconception is that it is greasy and heavy on the skin. However, this couldn't be further from the truth.
Beef tallow is actually quite lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin. It provides long-lasting moisture without leaving a heavy residue, making it an excellent option for those with dry skin.
Another misconception is that beef tallow has a strong odor that can be off-putting. In reality, the scent of beef tallow is very mild and can be easily masked by other natural ingredients, such as essential oils.
Additionally, many high-quality beef tallow products are processed in a way that removes any unwanted odors. So, if you've been avoiding beef tallow in your skincare routine because of concerns about its scent or greasiness, it's time to give it another chance.
Incorporating beef tallow into your skincare routine can be a game-changer, providing nourishing and moisturizing benefits that other natural ingredients simply can't match.
So, if you're interested in exploring natural skincare options and want to try something new, don't let these common misconceptions hold you back. With the right products and a little bit of experimentation, you may find that beef tallow is the missing piece in your skincare puzzle.
Whether you struggle with acne, aging, dryness, or other skin concerns, there are many natural ingredients and practices that can help improve your skin's health and appearance. By understanding the specific needs of your skin type and using the right natural remedies and techniques, you can create an effective skincare routine that promotes a healthy, glowing complexion.
Acne is a common skin concern that can be difficult to manage. Fortunately, there are natural ingredients that can help combat acne without the harsh side effects of traditional acne-fighting products.
Apple cider vinegar is one such ingredient, that can help balance the skin's pH level. It also has powerful antimicrobial properties that can help reduce acne-causing bacteria.
Witch hazel is another natural ingredient that can help control acne by reducing inflammation and excess oil production.
Additionally, incorporating a gentle exfoliating agent, such as sugar or oatmeal, into your skincare routine can help remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, reducing the likelihood of breakouts.
As we age, our skin undergoes changes that can result in fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. However, there are natural ingredients that can help reduce the signs of aging and promote healthy, youthful-looking skin.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can help protect the skin from free radicals and promote collagen production, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Rosehip oil is another anti-aging ingredient that is rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids, which can help improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of age spots.
Myrrh essential oil is a powerful and ancient ingredient used for thousands of years for its numerous health benefits, including its anti-aging properties for skin. It is rich in antioxidants, which help to fight free radicals and prevent oxidative stress that can cause premature aging. Myrrh oil also has anti-inflammatory properties, making it an excellent choice for those with inflamed or irritated skin. Additionally, it can help to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for maintaining firm and supple skin.
Finally, incorporating a facial massage into your skincare routine can help improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, reducing puffiness and promoting healthy skin.
Dry skin can be uncomfortable and unsightly, but there are natural ingredients that can help moisturize and nourish dry skin without the use of harsh chemicals.
Aloe vera is a hydrating ingredient that can help soothe dry, irritated skin, while honey is a natural humectant that can help retain moisture in the skin. Additionally, incorporating natural oils such as avocado oil or jojoba oil into your skincare routine can help nourish and protect dry skin. Finally, it's important to avoid hot showers and harsh soaps, as these can strip the skin of its natural oils, exacerbating dryness.
The Oil Cleansing Method is not only great for nourishing and balancing all skin types, but it's also a fantastic solution for oily skin.
As counterintuitive as it may sound, using oil to cleanse oily skin can actually help to reduce excess oil production and breakouts.
Harsh, soap-based cleansers can strip the skin of its natural oils, which can lead to overproduction of sebum, causing even more oiliness and acne. However, using the Oil Cleansing Method can help to remove impurities and excess oil from the skin without disrupting its natural balance, leading to clearer, more balanced skin over time.
Additionally, many of the oils used in the Oil Cleansing Method, such as jojoba and grapeseed oil, have natural astringent properties that can help to shrink pores and prevent breakouts.
So, if you're struggling with oily skin and breakouts, consider giving the Oil Cleansing Method a try. A great place to start would be FATCO's Cleansing Oil or Beef Tallow Cleansing Balm. This could be just the solution you've been looking for to achieve a healthy, glowing complexion!
Understanding the labels and ingredients in skincare products is crucial for creating an effective natural skincare routine. It can be overwhelming to decipher the long list of ingredients on a product label, but it's important to know what you're putting on your skin.
Firstly, it's essential to understand the common labels on skincare products and what they mean. For example, "organic" means that the product is made from at least 95% organic ingredients, while "natural" means that the product contains some natural ingredients, but not necessarily all.
By understanding these labels, you can make informed decisions about the products you use.
When it comes to natural ingredients to look for in skincare products, there are several beneficial options to consider. Ingredients like aloe vera, apple cider vinegar, rosehip oil, and coconut oil have been shown to have moisturizing and nourishing properties.
On the other hand, there are harmful ingredients to avoid, such as parabens, phthalates, and sulfates, which can irritate the skin and have negative long-term effects on skin health.
You can support healthy, radiant skin by choosing products with natural ingredients and avoiding harmful chemicals.
Finally, knowing how to read and understand skincare product labels is important. Ingredients are listed in descending order of concentration, so the first few ingredients listed make up the majority of the product.
If you're unsure about an ingredient, look it up to see if it's harmful or beneficial for your skin. Additionally, pay attention to expiration dates and storage instructions to ensure that your skincare products remain effective and safe to use.
Remember, simplicity is best when it comes to ingredients - if you can't pronounce it, then you shouldn't put it on your skin!
Many people are interested in natural skincare but may feel that it is too expensive or outside their budget. However, there are many cost-effective options for those who want to prioritize their skin health without breaking the bank.
One option is to seek out natural skincare brands that offer affordable prices or product lines. Another option is to make your own skincare products at home using natural ingredients. DIY skincare can be a fun and rewarding way to take control of your skincare routine and save money.
If you're interested in DIY skincare, there are many natural ingredients you can use to make effective products at home. For example, you can make a simple face mask using honey and oatmeal, which are both affordable and readily available.
Other ingredients like avocado, coconut oil, and aloe vera can be used in a variety of skincare products, such as moisturizers and serums.
It's essential to do your research and make sure you are using safe and effective ingredients in your DIY skincare recipes.
When it comes to prioritizing natural skincare on a budget, it can be helpful to think about what products are most important to you and where you are willing to invest.
For example, you may prioritize investing in a high-quality natural moisturizer or sunscreen, while opting for more affordable options for other products like cleansers or toners.
By being mindful of where you invest in your skincare routine, you can make the most of your budget and still prioritize natural and healthy ingredients.
The environmental impact of the beauty industry has become a growing concern in recent years. Traditional skincare products often contain harmful chemicals that not only pose risks to our health but also pollute our environment. In addition, ingredients like microbeads and synthetic fragrances can cause harm to our oceans and marine life. However, natural skincare can offer a more sustainable solution.
Natural skincare products are often produced using environmentally friendly methods, such as organic farming and renewable energy sources. Many natural skincare brands also use recyclable or biodegradable packaging to reduce waste. By choosing natural skincare products, we can reduce our environmental impact and support sustainable practices in the beauty industry.
By making these small changes, we can all play a part in reducing our environmental impact and promoting a more sustainable future.
When it comes to skincare, what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body. A healthy diet can significantly impact the health and appearance of your skin.
Eating a balanced and nutrient-rich diet can help promote a clear, glowing complexion, while consuming too much processed or sugary foods can contribute to acne and premature aging.
Certain foods are particularly beneficial for skin health. For example, foods rich in antioxidants, like berries, leafy greens, and dark chocolate, can help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals.
Healthy fats, like those found in nuts, avocados, grass-fed beef tallow, and fatty fish, can help nourish and moisturize the skin from the inside out. On the other hand, sugary and processed foods can contribute to inflammation in the body, which can lead to acne and other skin issues.
Incorporating skin-friendly foods into your diet doesn't have to be difficult. Simple changes, like swapping out sugary snacks for fruit or adding more vegetables to your meals, can have a big impact on your skin health.
Additionally, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water and reducing your alcohol and caffeine intake can help keep your skin looking its best.
As awareness about natural skincare continues to grow, more men are becoming interested in using natural and organic products for their skincare routines.
Men's skin is different from women's, with thicker and oilier skin, and more frequent shaving. Therefore, men have unique skincare needs. Natural skincare can provide a range of benefits for men's skin, from reducing acne and razor bumps to moisturizing and nourishing the skin.
Natural ingredients like aloe vera, tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar, organic coconut oil, and jojoba oil can be especially helpful for men's skin. Aloe vera has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties that can help calm the skin after shaving or sun exposure.
Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic that can help reduce acne and razor bumps. Jojoba oil is similar to the skin's natural oils and can help regulate oil production while providing hydration.
For men looking to switch to natural skincare, there are many cost-effective options available. Natural and organic products can be found at a range of price points, and many can be made at home using simple ingredients like coconut oil, honey, and oatmeal.
Taking care of a baby's delicate skin can be a challenge, and it's important to use products that are gentle and safe. Natural skincare for babies and children has become increasingly popular as parents are becoming more aware of the potentially harmful ingredients in traditional baby products.
Choosing natural ingredients can not only be beneficial for the health of a child's skin, but it can also help to reduce the risk of irritation and allergic reactions.
When it comes to natural skincare for babies and children, there are a variety of ingredients that can be used. Natural oils such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, grass-fed beef tallow, and almond oil can provide gentle hydration for delicate skin.
Calendula and chamomile are soothing ingredients that can help to calm irritated skin. Other natural ingredients that are commonly used in baby and child skincare include aloe vera, shea butter, and oatmeal.
In addition to choosing natural ingredients, there are also certain routines and practices that can help to promote healthy skin in babies and children. Gentle bathing practices, such as using lukewarm water and mild, tallow-based soap, can help to avoid drying out or irritating the skin.
Regular moisturizing can also help to maintain the skin's natural moisture barrier. It's important to consult with a pediatrician or dermatologist before trying any new skincare products on a baby or child's skin.
Taking care of your skin isn't just about achieving clear and healthy skin. It also has a significant impact on your mental health.
Skincare routines can provide a sense of comfort and relaxation, which can alleviate anxiety and stress. Moreover, they give us a sense of control over our lives when everything else seems uncertain. Skincare can also be a form of self-care that allows us to pamper ourselves and improve our mood.
There is a connection between the mind and the skin that science has backed up. The brain and the skin are intimately linked through complex signaling pathways. These pathways help us to react to stress, pain, and other environmental factors.
Consequently, when we're under stress, our skin can be negatively impacted by inflammation, dryness, and dullness. Similarly, when we're happy and relaxed, our skin tends to look healthier, brighter, and more radiant.
To incorporate mindfulness and self-care into your skincare routine, you should take the time to savor the process. Focus on the sensations, the textures, and the fragrances of the products you use. Take deep breaths and try to clear your mind of worries and stress.
You may also consider adding some meditation or gentle stretching to your routine to further enhance your relaxation and well-being.
Remember, self-care isn't just a trend; it's an essential aspect of taking care of yourself and your mental health.
Natural skincare has gained popularity in recent years as more people are becoming aware of the harmful effects of synthetic and chemical-laden products on their skin.
In addition, natural skincare routines, including traditional and non-traditional approaches, have been shown to provide numerous benefits, such as improved skin health and a more youthful appearance.
Incorporating natural ingredients like aloe vera, apple cider vinegar, rosehip oil, organic coconut oil, and grass-fed beef tallow can provide various benefits for different skin concerns.
Understanding labels and ingredients in skincare products is crucial to make informed choices, and it is possible to enjoy natural skincare on a budget with cost-effective options and DIY recipes.
Despite some common misconceptions, beef tallow can be a beneficial ingredient in skincare, providing antimicrobial properties and nourishing components. It's essential to prioritize skincare routines that cater to individual skin types and concerns to achieve optimal results.
By embracing a natural skincare routine, we can improve our skin's health and positively impact the environment by reducing our reliance on harmful chemicals and synthetic ingredients.
Remember to always prioritize self-care and make informed choices regarding skincare products, and don't be afraid to try new ingredients or routines to find what works best for you.
]]>How do I know if a bar is formulated like a soap?
So, here's where it gets a little bit tricky. When making soap, a manufacturer technically is not required to list Lye within the ingredients list. This is because once the chemical process is completed, there technically is no longer any amount of lye within the finished product. BUT, some manufacturers choose to include it, for full transparency.
So, when checking to see if a shampoo bar is formulated like a soap, you'll need to see if the ingredients list contains "Sodium Hydroxide" or "lye". If so, then it's not going to be safe to use on your hair. Also, if the entire ingredient list is composed of strictly oils and fats, it's highly likely that these products used lye during the manufacturing process, and again, would be great to wash your body, but definitely not your hair!
But Why Tallow? In my Shampoo?
Tallow has been used for centuries as an all-natural moisturizer and skin conditioner. It's also rich in vitamins A and D and contains essential fatty acids that help protect your skin from environmental damage and irritation.
But did you know that tallow is also great for hair? The same properties that make it so good for your skin are also great for your hair: vitamins A and D help strengthen hair follicles and prevent breakage; essential fatty acids keep your scalp healthy; and its natural moisturizing properties keep your scalp hydrated so it doesn't dry out or become too oily.
Plus, it comes in a handy travel size so you can take it with wherever you go! Grab One Today!
Want to try it out, but feeling a bit apprehensive about the whole "washing your hair with a bar" thing? Check out our video which includes a full tutorial HERE!
]]>OK, we've all been there...you're driving home from work, and you remember that you forgot to put deodorant on this morning! You catch a whiff and...OUCH! That odor could knock over an elephant!
Body odor is an extremely common problem, which can become a pretty embarrassing issue. Fortunately, when combined with a healthy diet and exercise, there are a few natural supplements that can help reduce body odors! In this article, you'll find the top five supplements for body odor and learn how they can help eliminate unpleasant odors in no time!
Magnesium
Magnesium is one of those nutrients that gets left out of the conversation around health, but it really should be getting more attention than it does. Magnesium is one of the best nutrients for helping you maintain healthy skin, hair and nails—and it also helps control your body odor!
When you're deficient in magnesium, your body's ability to break down sweat into different compounds can get thrown off. That means that instead of just breaking down into water and carbon dioxide, some of the compounds in sweat can form sulfur compounds that smell like rotten eggs or garlic. You've probably noticed this before—your skin smells bad after working out even though you showered right after sweating it out at the gym! This happens because your sweat has become more acidic thanks to a lack of magnesium.
Luckily, it's easy to control body odor by taking a magnesium supplement every day as well as eating foods high in magnesium, like leafy greens, beans, nuts, seeds and fish. You can also replenish your magnesium stores by using topical products that contain magnesium, like our Calming Body Butta and our Stank Stop Natural Deodorant!
Chlorophyll
You might think that chlorophyll is only good for your diet, but it can also help you fight body odor. Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in plants that helps them perform photosynthesis. It's what gives them their characteristic color and makes them so vital for life on Earth.
But it turns out that chlorophyll has some amazing properties when we're talking about your health and wellbeing too!
How does chlorophyll help reduce body odor? It's all thanks to its antibacterial properties, which help fight off bacteria that cause bad smells. As a result, you'll notice a reduction in sweat and other odors caused by bacteria in your body—which means less time worrying about whether people are noticing your stinky pits or not!
Probiotics
Do you want to know how probiotics can help reduce body odor?
When you eat food, it breaks down in your stomach and small intestine. Your intestines are home to billions of bacteria, which break down food particles and release enzymes that help you digest your food. When they do this job well, they also help keep your digestive tract healthy.
But sometimes these good bacteria get out of whack. For example, if you eat too much sugar or carbohydrates (AKA "carbs"), your body releases more insulin than usual. This can cause the bad bacteria in your gut to grow faster than the good ones—and then those bad guys start making smelly chemicals called hydrogen sulfide and indole that give off a rotten-egg smell when they break down (ew).
So what does this have to do with probiotics? They're good for helping you maintain a healthy balance between good and bad bacteria in your gut, which means you'll feel less likely to emit unwanted odors from time to time!
Raw ACV
Raw ACV contains acetic acid, which helps maintain a healthy pH balance in your digestive system. When your gut is balanced, it's easier for nutrients to be absorbed and eliminated effectively—which means less gas, bloating, and body odor! That's why when you eat raw apple cider vinegar, you'll notice a significant difference in how much time passes between when you eat food and when you fart (or burp). And if there's one thing we all know about farts, it's that they're gross.
If you're ready to experience this miracle of nature for yourself, grab some organic raw apple cider vinegar and get ready to start smelling F-R-E-S-H!
Zinc
Zinc is a trace element that helps reduce body odor by keeping the sweat glands from producing too much sweat.
The important thing to know about zinc is that it's actually not a good idea to supplement your diet with it. The reason for this is that your body absorbs zinc in very small amounts, and if you take too much of it, you can actually get sick. So if you're going to use zinc to reduce your B.O., you should use it topically rather than orally.
And the best way to get zinc topically—and therefore reduce body odor—is with a deodorant containing this mineral compound. That's why we've included this miracle element into our Stank Stop Natural Deodorant!
Taking these supplements on an ongoing basis can help keep unwanted odors at bay, so be sure to give them a try! And as always, don't forget to drink lots of H2O!
And as always, Remember: Your skin is your largest organ. Treat it well!

Let's start off by talking about what tallow IS!
Suet is the fat the encompasses the internal organs of a cow. Since it protects the nutrient rich organs like the liver, kidney, and heart, it actually contains many of the same nutrients also found in those organs.
This fat is collected, and then cooked low and slow over a long period of time separating out the liquid fat from the hard fat. The end result is a beautiful, white and creamy substance, with little to no odor. THIS is Tallow!
This substance is incredibly high in vitamin A, D, K and E, along with their fat soluble activators. It’s also high and conjugated linoleic acids, also known as CLA’s, which are anti-inflammatory . So while plant-based fats and oils are great, we believe that animal based fats make a great addition to your daily skincare routine.
It's sustainable (when sourced responsibly)
All of the tallow that we use comes from Fatworks Foods, who sources their suet from small, family owned farms that are based in the good ol' U S of A! Many of the farmers that Fatworks works with are practicing regenerative practices, which means they're actually regenerating the soil! Some of the farms that they source through Marin Sun Farms and Deck Family Farm.
It's Safe
Many commonly used skincare ingredients are produced in a lab, not taken from nature. Tallow is a truly natural ingredients! Also, many skincare products are designed to sit on a store shelf for years, which requires intense preservation. Tallow is an incredibly shelf-stable fat. If you've ever used it for cooking, you'll know that it can sit on your counter for months, and never go rancid!
It's Nourishing
Suet from grass-fed cows is incredibly high in Vitamins A, D, K and E, along with their fat soluble activators. It’s also high and conjugated linoleic acids (aka CLA's), which are anti-inflammatory. If you're interested in reading more about the nerdy science, check out the results of our recent eczema research study HERE!
It's Anti-Aging
OK, OK, we also hate the term anti-aging. But sometime's you've gotta use certain words to get the attention of google & improve your SEO!
But seriously...whether you say anti-aging, or "aging gracefully", we promise you that grass-fed tallow is an ingredient that will nourish & heal your skin!
You can find tallow in most of our products, including our Fat Sticks, Body and Baby Butta, Stank Stop Deodorant and Myrrhaculous Face Cream. We've made sure that you can use tallow all over your entire body!
If you have any questions at all about tallow, please do not hesitate to reach out to us! And as always...Your Skin is Your Largest Organ, Treat it Well!

The last time I ever wore antiperspirant was on July 23, 2016.
I was visiting San Diego for my friend Stephanie's wedding. I had just bought a really cute little purple dress from Banana Republic, which fit well, but was unfortunately cut a bit tight in the armpit region.
Now, 99.8% of the time I "practice what I preach", meaning that I hardly ever wear antiperspirant. I don't own any. At that point in time, I was a strict Stank Stop convert. But, considering my fancy attire, and the fact that I was planning on dancing my butt off in a few hours, I thought "what the heck! what's the worst thing that could happen?" I borrowed a bit of my friend's Secret antiperspirant, and I went on with the day. I proceeded to have a blast at the wedding, and finished the evening without any huge pit stains on my new dress. Mission Accomplished! Or so i thought...
Returning home 2 days later, my armpits began to feel slightly irritated, then painful. And by the next day, I had developed large welts in both armpits!
Here is how the timeline went...
July 30: I had my first (blind) date with Tim, my now husband. We went for a casual hike around Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe, and the entire time my armpits hurt. Like, HURT. I remember that they were so, so sore!
July 31: By now, the bumps had grown into large welts, so I decided it was best to take a trip down to Urgent Care. There, they were unable to tell me exactly what had caused them (shocking, I know) so they simply lanced the welts, and packed them with gauze (I know, Barf-o-Rama!)
I give Tim lots of credit for sticking around through this entire ordeal...most men would have run the other way! I guess the fact that he stuck around through my "armpit sores" tells you how much he really liked me! haha.
Aug 2: I returned to urgent care to have the packing removed and to have a new bandage applied.
Aug 8: By this date, a large number of new lesions had appeared in my armpit, and they were PAINFUL! My only course of action was to take a second trip to the urgent care. There I was diagnosed with MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection, which is caused by a type of staph bacteria that's become resistant to many of the antibiotics used to treat ordinary staph infections) and prescribed antibiotics to treat the infection.
Thankfully, after taking the antibiotics my body was able to successfully clear the infection. Obviously no one in the medical community was ever able to tell me what caused this severe reaction.
All I know is that after this experience, I completely swore off antiperspirants forever! And it's also a huge reason why i'm such a strong proponent of helping others eliminate toxic antiperspirants from their beauty cabinet!
So, if you or someone you know is still trying to find a natural deodorant that REALLY works (and will never result in a trip to urgent care), please send them our way! Because we'd love nothing more than to help them rid their medicine cabinet of crappy, toxic antiperspirants!

Attention people with uteruses! There’s a scientific reason why you break out worse on some days of the month over others! Wanna know why? Then keep reading...
As women, we are blessed with the ability to bear children. But along with that gift comes the price of monthly hormonal fluctuations! UGH! And since our hormones control so much around the way our body functions, these fluctuations can wreak havoc on our skin.
So let us break it down for you! Most women's cycle can fall anywhere from 28-31 days. This time can be broken down into 4 "phases".
1. Menstruation
Menstruation (Days 1-3)
During the first few days of your cycle, levels of estrogen and progesterone are low. This means that your skin is going to be on it's best behavior during this time!
Follicular Phase (Days 4-14)
Estrogen as well as testosterone gradually rises during the first 10 days of your cycle. This means brighter and clearer skin! For some, rising levels of testosterone can lead to increased oil production...but the vast majority of people will experience consistently clearer skin during this phase!
Around Ovulation (Approx. Day 14-19)
Since estrogen peaks during ovulation, your skin will have a healthy glow around this time! Increased luteinizing hormone levels can make your skin prone to bacterial overgrowth, so beware.
Luteal Phase (Days 20-28)
Escalating amounts of progesterone, while intended to create a cozy and comfy habitat for an embryo, can also lead to increased sebum production, which may lead to oilier skin. This can lead to commonly known PMS-related skin issues, like breakouts and acne! Skin may also be more sensitive during this time.
It's important to remember that taking care of your body goes beyond just your face. You should pay attention to your intimate areas. During menstruation, it's recommended to take regular showers to avoid getting an infection. In all menstrual cycle phases, try to avoid using synthetic or tight-fitting underwear. Instead, consider searching for women's cotton underwear and undergarments to find the best option that suits your needs.
FUN FACT: Hormonal birth control pills work by increasing estrogen levels, therefore tricking your body into not ovulating. This increase in estrogen is why many people who start taking birth control pills experience less acne!
Menstruation (Days 1-3): Not much is needed during this time. Live your life!
Follicular Phase (Days 4-14): During these 2 weeks, it's best to live by the mantra "less is more", and remember to Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate! Increase water intake, and never forget your moisturizer!
Around Ovulation (approx. Day 14-19): Avoid using heavy oil-based moisturizers. This is going to be the best time to try new skin care products, scrubs or masks as your skin will be less sensitive.
Luteal Phase (Days 20-28): Try to be extra gentle with your skin during these days. Try to reduce sugar, dairy, caffeine and white carbs. If you wear makeup, opt for a more natural look and avoid the use of heavy foundations.
During all phases of your cycle, make sure that you're using a natural, non-irritating skincare regimen. We recommend our Facial Skincare Basics bundle, as it provides the skin with just enough gentle cleansing as well as the nourishment that it needs during all phases.
If you want to be prepared for the changes that are going to be happening to your skin each month, make sure you're tracking your cycle! This can of course be done with pen + paper, but i'm a huge fan of using an App! A few of my favorites are Kindara as well as Flo Period & Ovulation Tracker. And as an added bonus, both of these apps are completely Free!
Remember that EVERYONE's cycle is different! While one person's ovulation day might fall on day 12 of their cycle, someone else's may fall on the 16th day of their cycle. Everyone's body is unique and will be impacted by hormones differently. Hormonal imbalances can dramatically affect the way your skin looks — from breakouts to dryness. In order to clear up your skin, you need to identify what’s causing the problem in the first place. Treating hormonal acne and dry skin requires a multi-faceted approach that includes diet, skincare products, and lifestyle changes.

If you’ve ever wondered about the perfect gift for The Grinch, or if a snowman needs to use moisturizer, then look no further! We proudly present the Fatco Holiday Gift Guide for 2021!
Buddy The Elf Could Use The Fat Stick
Buddy the Elf is always on the move! When he first came to New York to find his dad, he had to pass through the seven levels of the candy cane forest, through the sea of swirly twirly gumdrops, and then through the Lincoln Tunnel. That’s a lot of time spent in the cold dry weather, which no doubt took a toll on his skin. Buddy would have been better equipped for this journey with his handy dandy Lavender + Peppermint Fat Stick! He could apply it anywhere that the elements really started to affect, and cross out dry skin from his list of worries! Those difficult travels would be made easier with a Fat Stick in his pocket.
Frosty Could Use Some Body Butta
He’s alive as he could be, so he’s out there in the elements constantly. Frosty is definitely dealing with some frostbite, and in turn, some serious dry skin. If only there was a gift for him that could moisturize his entire body? Give Frosty the gift of moisturizer with our Body Butta. With all the time he spends outside, his skin needs all the extra love it can get. Not to mention, he could make a little snowman friend out of the circular Body Butta containers!
Stink! Stank! Stunk! The Grinch Needs Some Deodorant
It’s in the song people. That guy has some STANK! The Grinch prides himself on his vile, rotten attitude and persona. It’s only natural to assume that applies to his hygiene and appearance as well. He may not like it, but he could use some deodorant. Our Stank Stop should do the trick! It’s made with antibacterial coconut oil and odor neutralizing aluminum-free baking soda. We’ve even thrown in our grass-fed tallow to be extra soft and nourishing. It’s the perfect deodorant for a harsh, angry character like The Grinch!
Santa Needs Some Healthy Oils
I think it’s time we talk to Santa about his diet. I love the guy as much as you do, but all he’s eating are greasy, oily foods. Not to mention all the stress eating he does leading up to Christmas. It’s undoubtedly taking a toll on his skin. This is why Santa could really use our Cleansing Oil this Christmas. Using our Cleansing Oil, he can clean away the dirt & grime and replace them with healthy, beneficial oils that his skin craves. Don’t worry, Fatco’s got the ol’ fat man in the red suit covered.
Scrooge Could Tone It Down A Bit
Bah Humbug! This is of course the famous catchphrase of Christmas hater, Ebeneezer Scrooge. His life at the bank is undeniably stressful, and with all the demons of his past, we can’t help but feel bad for the guy. Harboring all that stress and rage can’t be good for him, so this year give Scrooge the gift of a relaxing end of the day with our Toner. He needs a refresh after work, and our toner provides an easy way to balance out his skin and wipe the day away. It goes on gently and will heal and regenerate the skin. Even if he yells in your face afterwards, giving him some Toner is for the best.
Rudolph Needs Help With His Redness
Oh Rudolph, you adorable reindeer you. He’s been capturing hearts during Christmas since he helped Santa through that foggy Christmas Eve. We all love Rudolph so deer-ly, but he needs some help with the redness on his face. Lucky for Rudolph, we’ve got just the thing. Our Myrrhaculous Face Cream will clear that redness right up! Made with grass-fed tallow and nutrient rich ingredients, it’s the perfect cream for dry, cracked, and irritated skin. Rudolph we love your glowing little nose, but if you ever need to clear some of the redness up, we’ve got you covered little guy.
The Abominable Snowman’s Hair Needs Some Love
He’s big, he’s hairy, and he’s...adorable? Of course we’re talking about the Abominable Snowman, affectionately known as Bumble by his north pole pals. He’s absolutely covered in hair, and living his life out in the elements, it could definitely use some extra nourishment. To keep Bumble’s hair nice and soft, give him the gift of our Revitalizing Hair Oil. With our blend of natural and organic oils, Bumble can combat the harsh effects of the cold, dry winds of the north pole. He’ll be feeling his very Bumble best when he lathers up with our hair oil after a long day.

XOXO,
]]>NEWSFLASH: The weather is changing, and so is your skin!
The wind is beginning to pick up, the leaves are starting to brown, and the warmer weather is fading away. Summer has reached its end and that can only mean one thing: Fall is here.
Fall is a wonderful time of the year. There’s unimaginable coloration in the foliage, the smell of pumpkin spice is in the air, and spooky fun is just around the corner. But, Fall is also home to a very unfortunate reality. The changing of the seasons causes a change in your skin. Yes, Fall is the beginning of the dry skin season.
At Fatco, we believe that a changing of the seasons and the weather is cause for changing your skincare routine. Your skin reacts differently to colder temperatures and increased wind, so preparing your skin for the change is a must. Don’t fret though, we’ve got you covered with some bits of advice and essential products to keep your skin healthy and nourished as the seasons change.
Try The Oil Cleansing Method (AKA "The OCM")
You’ve definitely heard the term “oily skin” used before, but likely in a more negative context. Aren’t the oils on your face what cause acne and skin imperfections? It’s not entirely that simple. As is the case with everything, there’s a good and bad. There are good oils that supply nutrients and clean the skin, and then there are dirty oils that clog pores.
The oils found in our cleansing oil penetrates deep and helps to remove dirt, make up, and dirty oils. It should come as no surprise that cleansing your skin with oil is a great way to combat the harsh effects of the fall weather by providing much needed moisture, too! It really is a win-win!
Say goodbye to that dry-and-tight post-cleansing sensation! The nourishing, hydrating, and cleansing properties of our Cleansing Oil make it a perfect starter to your fall skincare routine. Squeeze some into your hands, massage it all over your face, and then press a warm damp washcloth onto your face for one minute to lock in all the nutrients and allow the oil to penetrate the pores. Finally, use the cloth to wipe away any excess oil and dirt.
Missed A Spot? We’ve Got a Toner For That
The best second option for remedying dry skin with an oil based routine is to stay away from harsh, alcohol filled astringents. Instead, try something simple like our refreshing Toner on your skin! With a raw apple cider vinegar base, our Toner will help to balance the pH of your skin, while being super gentle on your skin’s microbiome.
Simply apply to a cotton ball or pad and remove any excess spots of dirt, make up, and oil that were missed in the initial wash. It’s a quick way to cover your bases and ensure clean, healthy, and moisturized skin.
Give Some Extra Love With Myrrhaculous Face Oil
Once you’re finished with the cleaning aspect of your routine, give your skin some pampering when you touch up with our Myrrhaculous Face Oil. This proprietary blend of 17 different healing and nutrient-rich cold-processed oils will leave your skin feeling fresh & balanced!
Apply to dry spots, wrinkles, laugh lines, or anywhere on the face that could use extra nourishment. Keep your skin looking as good as it feels this Fall when you apply a dab of Face Oil.
Finish Myrrhaculous-ly with our Face Cream.
Last but not least, let’s get creamy! Dairy jokes aside, it doesn’t get much better than applying moisturizing tallow as a routine closer.
Our all natural Myrrhaculous Face Cream will lock in the moisture and hydration from the previous steps, while also bringing its own nourishing, anti aging, and soothing qualities from the grass fed tallow.
Fall is here and that means the weather is changing. Using these products and our oil cleansing routine, you will change your skincare routine to better match the changing of the seasons.
We wish you the fattest Fall season yet!
XOXO,
Cassy

Years ago, when I was shopping for skin care products, I was horrified at all the additives and harsh chemicals found in typical skin care products. Being a huge believer in the nose to tail philosophy, I discovered that implementing wasted animal products into my skin care was a win-win. I decided to use tallow, an otherwise wasted by-product of the beef industry, to create skincare products that are as healing and restorative as they are natural.
We source our tallow from ethical, sustainable farms such as the Deck Family Farm in Oregon, the Belcampo farm in Northern California, and the Marin Sun Farms in the Bay Area. These farms raise their animals humanely, allowing their animals to graze open fields of grass.
Putting tallow into skincare was unconventional to say the least. But, when you boil it down, tallow is a superfood for your skin and utilizing it actually helps the environment, rather than detracting from it. Tallow is healing and regenerative, it’s rich in vitamins A, D, K, and E, and it calms the skin. As I always say, “Your skin is your biggest organ. Treat it well!”
All of our products are Certified Paleo, Certified Cruelty Free, Handmade in the USA (Austin, Texas, to be exact), and we are a women owned business!
Fat Stick
Many of the soaps and body washes we use can be harsh and drying. If you've ever stepped out of the shower and almost immediately felt dry and ashy, then you've fallen victim to the harsh alcohols and chemicals present in many commercial skincare products. With the conveniently portable Fat Stick, you can combat the ashiness by moisturizing and healing anywhere.
The Fat Stick can be used anytime and anywhere on the body, making it perfect for storing in your bag. The tallow in it is versatile, as it nourishes your skin, acts as a lip balm, and repairs cuticles. It comes in scents of vanilla and coffee, orange and vanilla, lavender and peppermint, and lemon and honey, so you smell refreshed and clean all day long.
Stank Stop Deodorant
Deodorant can stink. It’s an oxymoron, but it’s true. While it can prevent our bodies from smelling, it can also irritate our skin. With the power of tallow, we’ve remedied this common issue.
Made with coconut oil and the deodorizing power of aluminum-free baking soda, our Stank Stop deodorant both effectively prevents odor and nourishes the skin. The tallow in the deodorant helps soften your armpits, creating a deodorant that eliminates smell and soothes your skin. It comes in scents of lavender sage, grapefruit ginger, pine coriander, and rosemary lemon.
Calming Body Butta
With our Body Butta moisturizer, you can glow inside and out. This certified paleo, cruelty-free, and soothing butter will reinvent your morning skincare routine.
Made with grass fed tallow and plant-based coconut, almond, and olive oils, our Body Butta is all natural and all great. It’s loaded with vitamins A, D, K, and E. It will help you feel centered and calm, ready to take on whatever the day throws your way.
This morning, when you washed your face, how did your skin FEEL after you cleansed it? I bet this is something you don't really think all that much about. I mean, we normally wake up, brush our teeth, drink some coffee, wash our face, and go about our day. So when was the last time you really took a moment to STOP, and PAUSE. and think about HOW your skin FELT?
If you're washing your face with a soap-based cleanser, it's likely that your skin felt dry and tight after you washed it. I've got some bad news: THAT AIN'T GOOD. That means that whichever product you used is stripping any/all oils from your face.
Having "squeeky clean" skin is Not Good.
ENTER: The OIL CLEANSING Method!
Here's the long and short of it: Washing your face with harsh abrasives and chemical-filled, soap based cleansers may be wreaking havoc on your skin.
Here's my story:
I suffered from oily skin for a VERY long time. My earliest teenage memories consist of me having to carry around blotting papers whenever I would go out with my friends. I would go into the bathroom no less than 10 times during the night to make sure I didn't look like a greasy mess. I was self conscious & I hated my appearance.
I bought every product on store shelves that was made for "oily" skin. This often meant an "oil controlling" cleanser of some sort, paired with a pad or astringent that was full of alcohol. I remember I used to go through a bottle of SeaBreeze astringent every month. The main ingredient is SeaBreeze is alcohol. WTF? I was essentially wiping my entire face down with pure alcohol?
I did this for many years. I battled oily skin and acne through college, into my mid twenties. I was a complete "product whore", buying new products all the time, hoping that the next cleanser would be the holy grail, and it would "fix" my skin.
*full disclaimer: this is NOT a photo of me.
As I grew older, and I learned more about health and wellness, I began to learn alot about my skin, as well. I learned that my skin is incredible organ, and that it is always trying to balance its own oil production. I learned that by using harsh products (like I had been using for years) on my skin, I had been interrupting the natural functioning of my skin. I was actually CAUSING my skin harm. So, in an effort to fix my face, I was making the problem worse.
See, when we interrupt our skin's natural ability to balance its own oil production, we throw it all out of whack. When we remove all of the oil that our skin was creating (for a reason), our skin is sent the message that it needs to produce MORE oil. Therefore, by removing the oil on your skin, you're actually causing your skin to create more of its own natural oils, thus making your oily skin condition ten times worse.
What I first learned this I was so angry. I was angry because I felt like I had been doing all the right things. I was angry at the brands that were creating these products, trying to sell them to me using tricky marketing tactics. I felt like a fool, and I felt taken advantage of. So, I said fuck you Neutrogena...fuck you Clean & Clear...And I started making my own products.
That year I was on Pinterest a lot! I started reading about this thing called the oil cleansing method, which was essentially washing your face with oil. As someone who had suffered from oily skin for a very long time, this was terrifying. I mean, there's no way that this can make my skin less oily? But at that point I had nothing to lose, right? so I figured I'd try it because what's the worst thing that could happen? I could have oily skin? Again?
My skin was not very happy that first week. I did experience some acne breakouts. But everything I read online told me to stick it out at least two weeks, and I would have amazing results. so I decided to stick with it and I am so glad that I did! After that initial two week detox period, my skin cleared up. It was balanced, and I even leaned towards describing it as "combination" (ie oily in some spots and dry and others). I even started using a moisturizer again (which I hadn't done in years)! It truly was a transformative experience for me, considering the pain and agony I had experienced through my younger years. I finally saw light at the end of the tunnel!
When I first launched FATCO in 2014, our Cleansing Oil was one of the first products that I formulated. When I did so, I knew that this product was going to change people's lives. To this day (7 years later) it is still my favorite FATCO product, because I know how life-changing clear skin can be for some people.
If you've read this article and you're thinking to yourself "I'm ready to give oil cleansing a try!", then hop on over to our "Are You a First Time Oil Cleanser?" page for more info!
Our Cleansing Oil is available in 3 formulations: one for Dry Skin, one for Normal/Combination Skin, and one for Oily Skin. I always recommend that someone first starting out in their oil cleansing journey begin with our "normal" formula, unless you suffer from extremely dry or extremely oily skin. I say this because while you may think that you suffer from "oily skin", often just the simple act of switching to an oil-based cleanser will help your skin to re-balance it's own oil production, and provide the nourishment that you need!
I do personally believe that our FATCO Cleansing Oil formulations are top-notch, but if you'd like instead to go the DIY route (like I did, many years ago), then you can find more links on our "Oil Cleansing Method" Pinterest Board!

Suet is the fat the encompasses the internal organs of a cow. Here's a photo that we pulled from Belcampo's website, which is actually one of the farms where our suet is sourced!
This fat is hard and crumbly, and is such because it has a very important job to do!
THIS is the magical ingredient behind our brand, FATCO!
This substance is incredibly high in vitamins A, D, K & E along with their fat soluble activators. It’s also high and conjugated linoleic acids, also known as CLA’s, which are anti-inflammatory and help to speed healing. So, while plant-based fats and oils are great, we believe that animal based fats make a great addition to your daily skincare routine.
We source only the highest quality tallow, and all of our fat comes from small US based, family owned farms, like Belcampo. Many of the ranches that we work with are raising animals responsibly & ethically, and are actually regenerative their land in the process!
We believe wholeheartedly in the nose to tail philosophy. This means that if you’re going to kill an animal, you should use every single part of it, and not allow any of it to go to waste. Fat is a natural byproduct of the beef industry, and would normally get thrown in the garbage...but we know how great it is for your skin, so instead of ditching it, we’ve decided to make some pretty awesome skincare products with it, instead. It’s natural. It’s healthy and It’s sustainable.
You can find grass-fed Tallow in most of our Best Selling products found HERE.
Remember, your skin is your largest organ. Treat. It. Well!

FUN FACT: Your body gets a majority of the Vitamin D that it produces from {{drumroll please}} SUN EXPOSURE!
That's right...your body actually CREATES Vitamin D using sunlight!
The major biological function of vitamin D is to maintain normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin D aids in the absorption of calcium, helping to form and maintain strong bones. (1)
When your skin isn't exposed regularly to unencumbered sunlight, your body's vitamin D stores can suffer immensely. A few symptoms of Vitamin D deficiency are fatigue, depression, slow wound healing, bone loss, back pain, frequent infections and colds and joint pain. In fact, it’s estimated that more than 40% of American adults have a vitamin D deficiency. (2)
A few of the key benefits of more regular sun exposure are: enhanced mood, reduced depression & feelings of anxiety, improved sleep quality & duration, improved immune support, and improved muscle function, growth and recovery!
Try sitting in the sun without sunscreen on between 1 and 30 minutes (depending on how sensitive your skin is). This amount of time may be less for fair-skinned individuals and longer for those with darker skin. After you've acquired whatever amount of unprotected sunlight that you feel is best, be sure to apply a mineral-based sunblock! A few of my personal favorites are Pacifica Coconut Probiotic SPF30, Thinkbaby SPF 50+ and Supergoop Sunnyscreen 100% Mineral Lotion SPF 50. And if you'd like to understand more about how your current sunscreen rates on the scale of "clean" to "dirty, check out EWG's Guide to Safer Sunscreen! It's an amazing tool to help take the guesswork out of buying safer products!
Remember, mineral based sunscreens need to be applied more frequently. If you're going to be at the beach all day, make sure you bring plenty! Another great alternative to sunscreen is sun-blocking elements, like big hats, long-sleeve UV shirts and umbrellas!
Now, I know what some of you are thinking...isn't skin cancer also bad? YES, there are definitely dangerous consequences to getting too much sun, like sunburns, heat stroke and skin changes. However, when tended to responsibly, you can have the best of both worlds!
The bottom line: Regular sun exposure is the most natural way to get enough vitamin D.
Finally, if by chance you're in the sun for a tad bit too long, remember to have plenty of our tallow-based Body Butta on hand! High in vitamins A, D, K and E, our Body Buttas will help to replenish the nutrients that your skin lost during that fun-in-the-sun!
As always...Your skin is your largest organ. Treat. It. Well!

]]>We are LOUD and PROUD about our use of high-quality animal fats in our moisturizers & deodorants! All of the tallow that is used in our products is sourced through Fatworks Foods. Based in Denver, CO, they source all of their suet from small, US based, family-owned farms. All of these farms raise grass-fed, pasture-raised, happy & healthy cattle!
So I wanted to take a few moments today to share a bit more about some of the farms that provide us with the nutrient-dense suet that is used to make our tallow!
Deck Family Farm is a 320-acre organic farm in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. They sell their beef, lamb, pork, and chicken, raised on pastures rich in grass, herbs, and clover, providing a natural habitat that mimics what their wild ancestors lived in. Deck sells their products through local farmers markets, as well as a CSA Box. You can purchase beef, poultry, pork and through their online store, as well as fruits and veggies, dairy, eggs, coffee, nuts & honey via their CSA box.
Belcampo's 30,000 acre farm is nestled amongst the Northern CA mountains, at the base of Mt Shasta. There, they raise beef, poultry, pork and lamb.
All of their animals are raised on acres of regeneratively farmed pastures where they’re free to roam and graze. Their key tenets are based around product transparency, using farming practices that are good for the animals as well as the land, and giving animals a life that they deserve!
You can find Belcampo meats at one of their four restaurant/butcher shops, located in Northern & Southern CA, as well as at their 9 retail locations.
But Belcampo doesn't just sell their products. They're also extremely passionate about sharing the "why" behind what they do. Belcampo regularly puts on "Meat Camp", where attendees:
It ain't cheap, so I'm currently saving up so that I can hopefully attend one day!
"Marin Sun Farms is a meat company committed to creating a more sustainable food system by empowering farmers, conserving our landscapes and restoring the vitality of the foodshed and its inhabitants. We proudly operate the last remaining USDA inspected slaughterhouse in the San Francisco Bay Area, a certified organic and Animal Welfare Approved facility, and provide the highest quality meats available in California."
At Marin, they raise beef, lamb, goat, pork, poultry and veal. You can buy their meat online, or through their animal share program, which allows you to purchase a whole, a half or a quarter of an animal. You can also buy their meat at their whole-animal butcher shop in Oakland, CA.
These are just a few of the small, family owned farms that provide the fats that we use in our products. Please check them out! If you're local, support them by purchasing their products or perhaps even going into one of their restaurants/butcher shops. Give them a follow on social media. Remember, the beef industry will not change until we force it to change. Supporting companies like these is "voting with your dollar" for the good guys!

]]>Winter can be TOUGH on your skin, in so many ways!
The dry, cold months of October through March can be especially rough on your skin! Here are 6 simple steps you can take now to help your skin thrive during these harsh months!
]]>The dry, cold months of October through March can be especially rough on your skin! Cold temperatures and low humidity levels result in dry air that draws moisture away from the skin. Harsh winter winds and dry indoor heat can make the problem worse and lead to cracked and even bleeding skin. Here are 6 simple steps you can take now to help your skin thrive during these harsh months!
1. Drink more Water! Our #1 tip for how to have more hydrated skin is don't neglect your H2O intake! Water is so vital for so many reasons! But, when it comes to your skin, inadequate water consumption will most definitely lead to dull, dry skin.
Now, while all that water that you're drinking isn't necessarily going straight to your skin, it's feeding your cells, and hydrating all of the systems in your body. And remember...overall health=skin health! So ensuring that your body has proper hydration will aid in your body's ability to repair and defend itself!
A few years ago, I took the plunge and bought one of those fancy water filtration systems called a Berkey, and I cannot recommend it enough! I love mine! And I love knowing that me and my entire family always have access to clean, pure water all of the time!
2. Cool Down your Showers
One way to avoid overdrying of your skin is to avoid taking extremely hot showers. Hot showers can severely disrupt the skin's ability to lock-in moisture. Taking hot showers can even worsen skin conditions like eczema & psoriasis!
Instead, try luke-warm showers, or better yet, try a cold shower! Not yet ready to "take the plunge" in an ice bath? Then instead, try taking a "contrast shower." Developed by Dr Sebastian Kneipp, this technique will help to open your blood vessels, and is great for detoxification & regeneration of muscles and organs.
How it's done: get the water as cold as possible and stand in it for one minute. When the minute is up, you then change the water to hot for an additional minute. Alternate between one minute each of cold and hot for three to five cycles.
3. Eat plenty of healthy fats
Omega-3 fatty acids, which are crazy important for maintaining skin health. Omega-3's are necessary to help keep skin thick, supple, and moisturized. This means that integrating plenty of healthy fats into your daily diet can go a long way in keeping your skin smooth and hydrated!
Try adding half of an avocado to your breakfast, or a healthy drizzle of Kasandrino's Olive Oil to your lunch salad or baked sweet potato. For dinner, try one of my personal favorites...a Roasted Root Veggie Bake using Duck Fat from Fatworks Foods!
Remember, Truly healthy skin starts from within!
4. Use a Humidifier
If you're like me, then you love cranking up the thermostat when no-one else is looking. But the bad news is that all that warm cozy air can also seriously deplete your skin of moisture! Something i've personally been using for the past few years is a humidifier! What i've found is that my skin has a much easier time dealing with the trauma of the cold temps when i'm using it consistently. A humidifier will add moisture to the indoor air, helping to reduce the occurrence of dull, dry & parched skin. If you're looking for a new model, check out CANOPY. Their humidifier uses no-mist technology, has an anti-microbial filter, and is small and compact (translation, it will fit on your bedside table).
5. Take Up Dry Skin Brushing
One of my personal favorite at-home skincare remedies is dry-skin brushing! And it's exactly what it sounds like: brushing your skin while it's dry. Essentially, you're going to "brush" your skin with a soft-bristled brush before hopping in the shower. This practice can help detoxification by increasing blood circulation and promoting lymph flow/drainage. Dry brushing stimulates your nervous system, which can make you feel invigorated afterward. Personally, my favorite part is that it exfoliates dead skin cells!
Since there are probably about 100 articles online already, i'll just direct you to a few of my favorites on our Pinterest Board.
6. Moisturize your skin with Fats and Oils
Immediately after showering, make sure to apply a thin layer of a heavy moisturizer like our tallow-based Body Butta, to your skin. Tallow makes an amazing moisturizer for the dry winter months for many reasons. Tallow is insanely high in vitamins A, D, K and E, as well as CLA's (conjugated linoleic acid). It's rich in antioxidants, it's easily absorbed and is structurally similar to the cells in our skin (since we're animals, and not plants). Using our Body Butta after a shower will allow your skin to lock in deep moisture, and retain that moisture throughout the day.
Another way that you can use fats and oils topically is by adopting the Oil Cleansing Method. Yup, this is exactly what it sounds like: washing your face with oil. While it may sound bizarre, it's actually incredible for your skin! Wanna learn more? Check out our "Are You a First Time Oil Cleanser" page to learn more, and grab our Facial Skincare Basics bundle to check out all of our tallow & fat based facial skincare products! So ditch your soap-based facial cleanser for an oil-based cleanser, instead!
And as always...never forget...Your skin is your largest organ. Treat. It. Well!
